Mikhail Kolyada | Page 20 | Golden Skate

Mikhail Kolyada

btw for all the complaints the audience got, they really surpported Misha even when he was in 1st group in the SP & clapped along even!:agree:

When Kolyada skated I was hoping he would set the tone for the rest of the field. I wish he could have podiumed (I think he was undermarked).

Yes he's invited to the Gala! :hap10: I'm worried about whether he brought the shirt for EX with him tho...

Congrats

hopefully this will increase politicking for Mika as russian no.1 and improve his funding
doesn't he come from a poor family with 4 or 6 siblings was it ???

THANKS!
Very deep interview! This guy has a very humble personality but even very focused and.. how can i say... "concrete"!
I like him even more, he seems so genuine :)

he sounds very humble; maybe because of his upbringing
wasn't there some article his family is poverty stricken ?

He has 3 siblings (2 of them being quite small, I think his youngest sister is 5 or maybe 6 by now.) There is a rumour that at some point in his career it was financially difficult for him to continue to skate but he remained in the sport thanks to Chebotareva's help. But it's just a hearsay.

The fed should increase his funding (I'm also worried if he's getting enough ice time at St. Petersburg because his quads got tad look better at the World and I wonder if that's because he had more ice time at NY or something), and I'll be happy if the fed recognises that he's the real deal among Russian men, but imo no one needs 'politicking' by any means.

Thanks for the interview link! :thank: And I'm so happy he's invited to Gala! The World need to get used to him being around ;)

His free skate was my favorite - I liked that it was quirky and distinctive, and I really hope to see more of him. I'm sad that he didn't get bronze. He didn't land as many quads as Boyang, but I thought that his jumps were more beautiful (I really loved his triple axels!) and he was infinitely more enjoyable to watch.

Go Mikhail! Let's see you be the surprise medalist in 2018!
