Mikhail Kolyada

So if a boy and girl are walking together it means they're dating? :scratch2: Can't they just be friends?

I didn't imagine I would get the chance to see Mikhail skating live, but I will be there this weekend...looking forward to it!

Report back to us, please! I can imagine that it's stressful to think the season is done and suddenly go tearing across the globe for another competition, but it looks to be a very low-key event. Hopefully all the skaters will kick back and have fun with it.

It's easy for us to say - go and have a fun but it is still a competition they still have to deliver and there is a pressure to perform well for the team. It's also harder for singles - as they have to skate both programs unlike pairs & dance if I understand correctly.
TBH I don't get this new event, I think it would be better if ISU extended WTT to every year instead.

But then some good skaters would never be able to compete in these post Worlds team events. Like Denis Ten or Javi (who declined, but he had chance) or now Penny Coomes & Nicholas Buckland. Sure, the majority of skaters are the same, but there are some who has very first chance to compete as a team. Personally I really like the idea & I don't think the pressure is nowhere near as it was at Worlds.

Penny & Nick only got a chance becouse P/C withdrew. I am not against team events but so far it seems badly organised and chaotic. If they kept WTT every year it would give audiences a chance to get familiar with the format and increase the popularity of the event and FS.
But of course it is too early to pass the judgement - we''ll see how it goes.

Practice reports say Mika fell on 4T but did well the rest. Still can't figure out if his group (#1) goes first or last? Anyone could clarify this?

Interestingly Rafiel was sitting with Team Europe and Valentina looked like she was enjoying a chat with him!

And most of all: the best of luck to Mika!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cheer::clap::cheer2:

That whole red carpet/ team intro was crushingly awkward.:laugh2: But hey, Mikhail looked adorable.

Interesting matchup. If D10 goes clean he should have it, but this hasn't been his season for going clean. A clean Kolyada and Rippon are fairly evenly matched, going by Worlds results. So we will see what happens! I'm hoping Mikhail skates well and is happy with how he did, and....crushes everyone while doing it,

Mika was so cute with such rose cheeks on the red carpet.

I hope he skates well in the last competition of the season and goes back to home with a nice prize.

Now that the Team Challenge Cup competition is over, I am happy that Misha managed to skate his free program reasonably well. However, it was essentially on pure willpower. I was seriously worried about his form after the short program, but he managed to pull himself together enough, kudos to him. I hope the whole "telling someone they are to compete three days in advance" thing doesn't repeat for anyone. On the bright side, there is prize money :2thumbs:

Stressful as the competition was, I think Mika got more than the prize money out of it. He genuinely seemed to be enjoying himself in the K'n'C and with the other skaters and it's great seeing him so happy and getting along well with everyone. Which of course also meant a lot of cute interactions and adorkable moments for us!

Now I hope he gets his good and deserved rest :)

He gave it his all in his free program, which I thought was very nice given the fact that he had very little advance notice coming into this competition. His triple axel and triple lutz are just

Hopefully he rests up and comes back swinging next season! Best wishes!

Also, with the perfect jump technique everyone keeps raving about, I wish Misha's quads weren't so hit-and-miss overall. He obviously has no problem rotating them, but landings are another matter. I suppose it must be harder to land from such stratospheric heights. I hope this comes together somehow when he gets more quads.

He should seek Plushenko's technical help during the off season. Considering his close relationship with his coach, it seems out of the question for him to make some change.

Yes normally the substitutes keep on training just in case. Mika didn't train for at least a week after the Worlds, then he started to break in his new boots - a painful process I gather. When he was 'summoned' his old boots broke and there was no time to repair them properly so they were patched with a tape. (all that info I gathered from Russian boards so how reliable the source I don't know) so considering all this and a jet lag I think Mika did marvellously! And even if he'd done better in the sp I understand it would not change the team results (?)
It was tough going but as you said on the plus side there is prize money and of course all the buzz of the event.
Lets hope Mika will get a nice break to recharge the batteries!

With Chris and all the team:

Yes, it was quite a feat to perform. When I saw Valentina in K&C holding out slippers for Misha on his return afer FS, I thought he would not do EX - too tired...and the boots falling to pieces...But he again pulled himself together, didn't put on slippers, and with boots on went to his team smiling and jokingly making kniksen...
