Mikhail Kolyada

Yes! :yahoo: Moreover, based on the comments to that photo, he got a so-called diploma with excellence (this means that at least 75% of a student's final grades have to be "excellent" and the rest "good" (no "satisfactory" allowed), and also "excellent" for all graduation exams and final year project) :clapper: :hap10: Official graduation will be on 27 June, but Misha will have to miss it due to going to camp.

Congratulations! When do these elite skaters find the time to study in college, let alone earn excellent grades is a mystery to me!

Mika did say in the interview that he would have wanted to be a scientist if he weren't an athlete, so he obviously took his studies seriously as to finding the time - yes I wonder too
What a year he's had so far - debut at Euros & Worlds & TCC; the military service and now the Uni graduation. Congratulations Mika and every success in anything you do!:hap10:
I also hope that there will be some window for a little break to recharge the batteries before the season starts...

My dear guys! Sorry for so long waiting. If you remember I said I will ask Misha your questions. Yesterday we did it. We just couldn't do it earlier, unfortunately. But in few days be ready for very big and very interesting interview! In our group VK we published little part to make waiting more interesting... :)

The interview is up on the VK. Very interesting one. Many thanks to all who organised it.

The most interesting news is GP assignments : Mika has chosen CoR and the second either CoC or NHK pending Hanyu's decision. SA was offered but Mika decided not to.

Question to Yulia: will be there English translation? If not I could do this but may be in 2 or 3 parts - it is rather long.

Thank you!
I think it will be better if you translate this interview. I will be grateful for you! I have to enter the University now and just don't have enough time :(
Hope you really enjoy the interview! :)

^ Sadly I won't have time for a couple of days but later in the week I'll make a start

In other interesting news, Misha is planning to get started on a Master's degree - by extramural study, not full-time. He wants to be a coach one day. As for his programs next season, he said it's going to be interesting and he will get to portray a character that he has dreamt about for some time, but refused to give any details.

Rather curious is what decision by Yuzuru Misha is waiting for exactly, and why it matters.

Exactly, Misha said it seems he can be on one GP with Boyang Jin. Best sportsmen can't be on one GP. And on Hanyu's decision depends Boyang and Misha's decisions. I can't say it is 100 % true, because Misha also doesn't understand the whole system.
As I see, 1 to 3 places on Worlds can't be together and 4-6 also can't do it. Something like that.

Yes, I find it most intriguing that he’ll be portraying a character he’s been dreaming to impersonate for some time. I can’t wait to see who it is!

Oh, so it’s Boyang that he’s trying to avoid! Now I understand him.

Speaking of Boyang, I was impressed by Mikhail’s tribute to him in this interview. Answering to the question about his impressions from Worlds, he said: “First of all, there’s a special atmosphere at this competition, which one doesn’t find at other events. I also enjoyed skating in front of a large audience and attend practices with the greatest figure skaters. For example, I saw Boyang Jing in practice and was impressed. He was simply gliding, and then, hop, and he did a quad salchow. Simply went and did it. And did it in such a way, as if it were just a triple. He is a devil of a jumper!"

I was also impressed that he tries to answer all the fan letters, despite the double work of an elite skater and a college student (and now he’s going to graduate school during the peak of his athletic career!), that he can make himself ignore newspaper headlines which proclaim him the main Olympic hope and a replacement for Plushenko, and, frankly, that he doesn’t watch The Game of Thrones.

No, Misha is not afraid of Boyang, it is something about rules of GP :)

Thanks for the info. Although his master study would not be full-time, planning to compete and study at the same time sounds pretty demanding as his next season would be very crucial for his career. I wish him all best. The plan for the next program sounds intriguing as well. Perhaps, one of his skating idols?

Oh, I thought that skaters who finished 1st and 4th at Worlds could choose whichever GP events they wished, but you're saying that those who finished 3rd and 4th can't be at the same event, and so Mikhail has to wait for Boyang's decision?

Yes, they can choose, but they do it in order of places they took on worlds and there are some rules about it. Some difficult rules which Misha doesn't understand well, but said the best skaters can't choose the same GP.. Misha and others are waiting for Hanyu's decision, not Boyang's :)
