Mikhail Kolyada

Just to clarify, you mean in the GP season so far, yeah? Because if you're counting Challengers, there's one higher.

Yes, I'm about GP, but even plus Challenger events he has highist TES exept Yuzuru' SP with WR 112. And in Kolyada's case some judges were too strict to put 0 GOES for his elements

You know, I hadn't actually realized he had higher TES than Shoma at Lombardia. I went to check and in fact, the only times there's been higher TES than this from anyone, in official competitions, is 3x times Yuzu and 1x time Javi. Not even Nathan at 4CC got as high a TES!

Great program today ... maybe this is the competition that he can pull 2 programs without a fall ... one can hope

Quite rightfully so. We knew he had it in him! I hope this is a big boost to his confidence. He can compete at the very top.

Jesus, where is this coming from? :drama:

But it's noticeable that he lowered the speed a bit going into the jump, and he actually is the air position tight, in the air you could see him landing these lutzes - both the SP and this combo.

Misha left twenty points on the table with those pops - HE KNOWS BETTER!!! But at least he didn't win the FS, otherwise some people might just stroke out in here.

Congrats on the first GP gold!

I hope this will bust his confidence and learn him to cope with the pressure.

His Elvis program starts growing up on me. The first time i saw it i was "nope", but now i can see improvement in the details.

It's too hard for him to produce two great programs at this point. Early in the season and all that. But his scores have been growing steadily so let's hope for the best. This is the first season in his career where he was first at more than one competition (excluding small local ones), and this only with less than half the season gone.

What was with the nose blowing before the skate, he didn't get a cold by any chance?

P.S. I wonder if skaters ever go "what have they done with my name now" after the announcements. I have some experience in the mangled name department and it's often "well, could be worse, at least I can guess it's me" but it can momentarily throw you off.

I think he really has to take that SP and find the frame of mind he was in it. And well, his 4t is here to stay, it's not going anywhere. At this point it feels like it's his money jump, compared to the axel.

And his scores are rising, fairly. We have to think that compared to two seasons ago when he had one quad in the FS and five jumping passes in the first half, he now has 3, and five jumping passes in the second half, that's a lot more points in the program - with two pops he was still over his BV from Boston. As I said, if he hadn't popped the jumps he had gotten a PB some ten, fifteen points higher easily. But again, thank god he didn't do that, people would just freak out even more.

In the end he did have a bit of a bad FS, but the judges considered him better than Boyang and Javier, which are fairly more seasoned skaters than he is. Misha has to build on this competition, and get ready for his first GPF.

He was in the lead after SP both In Finlandia and here in China. I think he was a little bit nervous because of that new situation and was not able to show his best. But he gets used to be on top after SP, so he will perform us a great FS this season. Maybe GPF already? I am big fan of Javi too, but I think next time it Mikhail's time to get the EC title.

It seems that going for a BV-expensive program was not a bad strategy after all. Amusingly, after Misha's FS at CoR, Valentina was accused of gaming the system Eteri-style (i.e. reading the rules with a calculator in hand). Of course, first they had to get Misha's stamina up to where he could even get something like that off the ground.

So, according to Valentina, Misha is going to compete at Tallinn Trophy - people were wondering if he'd withdraw and concentrate on the GPF now, but they evidently think more competitions are good. Going by Misha's results this season they might be right. Of course they may have another think and still change their minds about Tallinn, but we'll see.

Not his best FS but congrats on your first GP gold and welcome to the GPF!! I'll be looking forward to seeing that 4Lz again at the finals.

I actually think doing these competitions hasn't been that bad for him.
And let's be real here for a minute, Misha is the only skater that managed to try to threat the top without having to resort to four or five quads in the FS so far, and he cleaned his first SP yesterday and the bag of haters and overreacters only got bigger. If anything Valentina and Misha are doing everything right. I can't get over how many people suddenly realized Misha exists in the skating world, because until the other day he was only that 'guy with a nice technique' and it was fine to root for him, but now it's becoming the norm to pick apart his scores. :rolleye:

So happy for Misha that he finally got the recognition that he deserves! Also happy for team Russia to be one step closer to the team gold!
