He didn't fake an illness for five months, he "faked" it in August and then kept on insisting it is all better now. I hate when skaters, well, flat out lie. Zhenya did it last season but at least it was for the Olympics. Now it suddenly dawned on him you actually need to treat yourself in time.
He may still not make it, Zhenya insisted she would participate until the last moment. I just hope he doesn't make it all the way to the SP and have to withdraw after it, which will be the crowning moment of idiocy that is this season. The really stupid thing is that he seemed better in Zagreb at least with regard to coordination issues. He probably went because he was feeling a bit better. And it was going there that most likely triggered the exacerbation. One positive is that at least now people will not be quite as likely to accuse him of having no character.
He travelled to all competitions, except Zagreb, by train, may be flying influenced somehow nose issue due to pressure in the plane and so on.
I am still not sure people will think he has character, as there is already an opinion he is looking for possibilities to withdraw and not to show bad skating.
Actually i hope he will withdraw and take care about his health as nothing is more important, but I'm scared there is something more in the game (finance issues, career, etc..). Don't know what i will handle better, missing him in Saransk or watching live him losing everything.
I don’t know if it was just the lighting/his expression, but his face seemed so swollen in that IG picture
