Our beloved Swedish team did it again in Bratislava, they made no mistakes and got huge new PB scores both in the RD (66.87) and in the FD (105.69) and a TS of 172.56 - meaning they are improved their total ISU PB with 12 points Congratz!

Cherry on the top, they placed nr. 6 - and will be the last team in this event that grabs some much needed ranking points. Well done is this competitive field

If i´m not mistaken, since their score got updated on the alternate list for GP after Denis Ten, in theory the same should happen here, and in that case they move up a lot of placements on the list to nr. 4, which is a huge leap! Let´s just wait and see, ISU has not updated everybody Challenger score on the list so we will have to wait to see, sometimes it seems random who updates or not. It´s probably too late in the season for them to end up with a spot now anyways, but they have never been closer to a spot. The score might bring them better luck next season for a late spot, so regardless what happens with the list this years this bring a lot of hope for a GP next season no matter if they peaked this season.

Given the time they skated together it´s amazing they already come this far and can post such a huge score in their 2nd season!

Sorry I have been so busy with work and preparations before Christmas holiday that I forgot to post about Milla&Nikolaj taking their 2nd National title this past weekend



They scored 167.82 in total!

I´m a little late posting this. Congratz Milla and Nikolaj with their amazing 17th place at European Championship! I´m so happy qualified for the free and was able to show their beautiful FD

Milla and Nikolaj posted a story about them working together with Andrea Vaturi. Vaturi posted a story that he has been choreographing programs for 4 days in Malmö - Sweden - and tagged team Reitan/Majorov along with Noah Bodenstein and Alexandra Ödman.

Don´t know yet if it´s RD or FD.

Vaturi has choregraphed a couple of nice programs for singlers skaters training in Obserstdorf before, for example Britschgi and Schott.

Despite being a former ice dancer, I can´t find any information that he actually choreographed a ID program before outside skating shows. So it seems that Milla and Nikolaj might the first ID couple skating one of his programs in competition. Very exciting!

Really great performance by Milla and Nikolaj today, earning them a new PB with 69.30 and top 3 after the RD! Such a great achievement!

Little late to post this - congratz so much to Milla and Nikolaj with their great skates in Beijing and just barely missing a Olympic spot. They have gotten so much love after and new fans. Their FD on YouTube has gotten over 15 000 views, over 200 likes and 38 comments.

Svensk OS-kvotplats i isdans – en historisk milstolpe

Det står nu klart att Sverige har säkrat en kvotplats till OS i isdans – något som aldrig tidigare skett. Beskedet kom sedan ett av de länder som säkrat en OS-kvotplats meddelat att de inte kommer att utnyttja den. Därmed går kvoten vidare i turordning – och tillfaller Sverige tack vare Milla...

On one hand, I am sad that somebody (Finland?) had to give up their spot.
On the other hand, I'm positively delighted for Milla and Nikolaj. Milla's citizenship is still up in the air, though. The news release insists on how this is the first Olympic quota for Sweden in Ice Dance, so I hope the Olympic Committee will send them on the "promising" grounds... if Milla gets her citizenship in time.

According to Swedish Media Milla doesn´t have citizenship yet and the application process is the issue here. She is waiting for it. She has lived long enough in Sweden and has met all the requirements according to the article, so that actually calms one my concerns because I wasn´t even sure about that ...It says she started the application process in March. So that is 8-9 months ago. It sounds like they are using a awful lot of time... I´m hoping the media attention can speed up the process.

If she can get it in time though, there is still the issues with SOC requirements. Again another Swedish athlete would need the mercy of promising athlete exception. They don´t meet the other requirements for now - which says to be able to place top 12 at Olympics....

Hmmm if we look at history - they might not get promising athlete exception since Nikolaj already got it once. The question here is if they will look through it since it´s a new discipline, and that Milla probably mets the requirement.

I´m having my fingers crossed now I have a feeling that the citizenship issue might resolve.
