Mirai Nagasu | Page 23 | Golden Skate

Mirai Nagasu

A picture of Mirai, her bf Darian and an unidentified woman at the DI. I haven't been able to find any news of results or whether she did the 3A. A very low key event but at least we know she was there and in costume.

She attempted it at the competition. We won't know specifics yet, but apparently she did land her solo Lutz in the short clean and attempted the 3A. No word if it was <<, <, SO, or fall.

It doesn't matter. It takes months for a jump to be consistent in competition. Let's be patient.

Mirai posted her protocols of her freeskate. The 3A was <<, but everything else was clean.

I'm glad she tried it and shared the protocols with us. She also got her highest score of the season (with the 3A attempt) even if it doesn't really count. And I'm glad the 3A outcome didn't affect the rest of her performance. Also she beat the second place entry by 70+ points!

Go Mirai!

She used the term double carrot for <<.

I thought carrot was a golden skate term.

Never thought someone would use it in real life as if it is a standard slant. Maybe she read it here.

Good ol' Mirai.

I think it's used throughout the skating community. Ashley Wagner joked about eating carrots after her Shin Amano experience this season.

I haven't seen it posted officially but it was posted in the WTT thread that Mirai will be competing! Bring that 3A to Japan :)

If confirmed officially, she and Karen will represent the women, along with Jason and Nathan, Maia & Alex and Alexa & Chris!

Sounds awesome!

I can understand why Ashley and Karen are going, and Mirai did get to go to 4CC because Ashley declined. But it still kind of sucks that she is in the top two of season and world rankings of US ladies right now and still doesn't get to go/has never gone to WTT. Oh well. She does have school going on...but I guess the alternates are still assumed to train. Did any other countries announce alternates? I still don't know how Gracie Gold got to go that one year they sent her when she was still a JR.

Putting two and two together: looks as if Mirai was invited to the NBC Olympics pre-2018 promotional shoot  :dance2:.

She posted an Instagram story video of Alexa (who clearly said on her own social media that the Knierims are at the shoot).

And if I am not mistaken, Mirai is on a bus next to Adam in his Instagram story ... perhaps an NBC shuttle bus for the shoot?? (Adam previously indicated that he would be attending the shoot.)

Obviously does not mean that Mirai will be a shoo-in for the Olympics.
But it is a nice recognition for her that NBC considers her to be in the mix :yay:.
Other U.S. ladies at this year's NBC shoot: Ashley, Karen, Gracie .. I'm not sure about any others.

Just wanted to share this video of Mirai skating at a show this weekend!

She does her short program and Shake It Out

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gahUUUB6t4s

Her skating is at 2:40 and 8:08

The programs have so adjustments in them because of the strange dimensions of the ice surface but she looks pretty great out there. She definitely seems to be keeping her training up. It's nice to see her doing the triple flip in exhibition too!

Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing! For the record, this was the show in Skokie, Il at the Skatium Ice Arena.

I'd rather see her turn Shake it Out into an LP than keep The Winner Takes it All (the sp can stay as long as the original choreography is there).
:)

So.....is anyone else curious about what all went on in this (according to Tom Z./Jackie Wong) jump fest that happened yesterday at the World Ice Arena?

Apparently, Max, Joshua, Karen, Marin, Mirai, Vincent, Courtney, Nathan, and Adam were there. I'm assuming from Tom Z. that Nathan won being that he did a 3F-4T. Still, it would have been interesting and fun to watch. Hopefully, Mirai did some great 3/3s or 3As!

BTW, I don't know what those numbers on the right mean or why Joshua and Karen didn't have one.

EDIT: There a thread about this in The Edge.

New interview with Mirai from Figure Skaters Online.

New tidbits:

She is getting a new long program (yay!) choregraphed by Jeff Buttle (double yay!). She is keeping the Chopin SP, too.
She is headed to Japan this summer to skate in Mao's The ICE.
She's working on the 3A and gives herself a C grade.
