Very nice job from Mirai at the Japan Open!
Two-footed 3A but all 8 jumps rotated! Needs to keep that up, get that 3A clean, work on getting those spin levels back up and on PCS scores overall - they're really what keep holding her score down even without UR's! I hope Mirai works a bit more with Jeff to improve her transitions and performance quality! Boost those up and she'd be right up there!

Wow that program is uhm... rather Wagner-esque?!! Nice to see her experiment and have fun.
There is also a version posted from the Carnival on Ice EX from this past weekend. She fell on the 3A, but good for her to try it under the spot lights. Mirai looks in such great physical shape. I just wish the commentators would be quiet during the skate, instead nattering on about her 3A.
I like that she's doing a flirty program - she's 24 after all. Nice to see her smile on the ice, too!

I'd love it if Mirai skates on no matter what happens this Olympic season! She's only just begun imo!
Crossing fingers, lighting candles, praying and hoping for two very successful skates from Mirai at Rostelecom Cup next week!! Can't believe it's almost here!
I'd love it if they've been working on improving Mirai's speed, presentation, and transitions so she can bring those PCS scores up!

Yes it has! Here's hoping (and praying!) that Mirai can throw it down at COR next week!
FWIW, the show aired in Japan with two audio channels: one with commentary, and one without any.

I know right? You can tell by my username that I always heart the talented but inconsistent ones that make me pray to the skate gods, light candles, etc. Sasha Cohen did the same thing to me although in the end she managed an Olympic medal and some Worlds medals too LOL!! I'll definitely be lighting candles this Olympic season!

just wanted to pop up here and wish Mirai strong GP competition - I hope she will perform with confidence, especially about her jumps, she really shines when she is on

I hope Mirai puts the SP behind her and skates her best in the free - she's physically there, it's just a mental challenge now!
Glad to see that Mirai bounced back in the free yesterday. It wasn't an easy skate for her, she had to fight for a few landings but she stood up for the entire program.
I hope she is not discouraged by her 9th place finish here and continues to keep that fire in her belly for the rest of the season. I posted this in another thread and I wonder if she and Tom will rethink her 3A strategy for NHK. IMO, she should continue to go for it in the FS but take it out of the SP and focus on skating clean if she wants to get a better result going into Nationals.
I also want to see her focus more on the choreo/performance aspect and get her PCS scores into the 8s and 9s. I'm sure she'll keep working hard in the next three weeks leading up to NHK.

I'm very proud of Mirai! Great fight in the FS! Work to be done but it's doable!
She showed GUTS to put the 3A out there in both programs (one of which imo she was unfairly given a UR in the SP). She fought hard for it in the FS and finished on a good note. Room for improvement to be sure but I think she's going to get there! I also hope she goes to Golden Spin! I think the more she competes the better.
