I remember reading in the news back when it happened that there had been repeated requests for funds to fix the levees that were turned down by Congress, and that made me angry at the time(still does now), but you're right, that it doesn't mean they wanted it to happen.

I was merely blaming Bush for the weather because that's how a lot of news reports and celebrities made it sound, like he actually ordered the storm that wiped out part of the nation. Which I find hilarious because that makes him God... and so basically his detractors all believed him to be God

I don't know which competitions but i remeber this deabte coming up before and Kristi certainly landed it on at least 3 occassions - i'm fairly sure someone once did a bullet point list and at least 3 showed up if not more?

But back to topic number 2, I sorta find it ironic how these same people that complained MK stayed eligible way too long in order for the young'ns to come up complain that she didn't do the GP or Four Continents, competitions that ironically allowed (with MK's withdrawal) young, talented American skaters to exhibit their skills on the international circuit.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying "never" means never. Michelle never did those combinations in competition, that's a true statement.

I'd recommend you read post 300 in which purplecat clearly stated the competitions that s/he had on tape where Kristi landed it and that, in fact, there may well be others.

Regardless of Michelle's attempt at a 3Lz/3Lp she never landed it in competition - she attempted it once and didn't succeed, the difference is that Kristi did land the triple slachow many times and can therefore not be said to have never landed it. Pretty simple really.

Without doubt MK is the one resposible for the low prestige of 4CC.
She's arrogant enough to "skip" GP series (of course to avoid more "fair" competitions at GPF). Why would she be interested in 4CC? Only US nationals and worlds were deserving place to show off her "greatness". SC and some male US champions have imitated MK's arrogant attitude. Unfortunately Japanese federation has followed too.

That's how I've felt over the years-it's a Catch 22 for Michelle: she's damned for overshadowing the young'uns if she competes. She's damned for killing the sport if she sits out. :sheesh:

Obviously Michelle never did 4CC. I don't recall many of the US National Ladies podium going to 4 CC other than last year's crew. I know Bebe, Jenny, Angela have gone, but I always felt that was due to either not getting on the Worlds team, or because they were in a way regarded 2nd tier skaters, who needed the milege prior to Worlds. Certainly not Michelle's fault that Tara, Sasha, Sarah turned down their invitations.

If memory serves me right, I believe since 1994, Michelle skated in the GP series (even before it was called that) 7 times-winning 1 Gold and 4 Silvers (there was no GPF in 1995 and in 1998 Michelle sat out the Final with a fractured toe.) Seven times she did participate over eleven seasons as a top Senior skater. That's rather impressive to me!

Of course! Didn't realize I had to add that any sort of longetivity impresses me. My point wasn't about Michelle having the most years, but that saying she alone killed the GPS because she opted out over the years was pointless since she did participate in 7 out of 11 years. I guess some people either have short memories, or else rather remember that during her last 3 years of eligible competing, Michelle opted out of the GP.
