Misha Ge

I am really stupifed by the situation he always has to struggle with. This is unheard of from other skaters, or is it just because I only pay so much attentions to Misha??? Does it also happen to other skaters who represent remote non EU nations nor North American, nor Japan.. say, Denis Ten, Elizabet Tursynbayeva, or CMC??

It would suck if Misha had to w/d due to passport issues. Hoping he can get this resolved before the competition.

What *is* it with Misha and his French visas? I am getting seriously bummed here....:(

^^

Sigh, now that's terrible and more than likely, additional stress on him for SC too. Fingers crossed the poor man gets this resolved.

Poor Misha. I vaguely remember he's had all sorts of visa issues over the years but cannot remember if it's a specific country, or the timing, or what. I had thought this season that those issues were better since he had been helping Mishin in various places IIRC, with Plushenko, trained in the States, had been in Canada 2x in quick succession, etc.. I wonder why he has these problems. And, with SC really just hours away, this is the absolute worst timing for this to happen! How stressful. I was looking forward to seeing him skate in person. I hope he gets what he needs asap.

Seems like it's the western Europe where he has the problem with. As well travelled as he is, this part of the world has been rarely seen by him. He was at 2012 WC in Nice, and he was in Finlandia couple of times, but if I am not mistaken, that is about it. I am not an expert in this so I am just guessing, but he clearly has his residency in the US, and his roots are both in Russia and China so probably there is no problem going there, Estonia is after all a former USSR nation just as well as Uzbekistan, so maybe it is easier... but he has no connection in Western Europe. I don't know why is so complicated particularly for him, anyone can visit pretty much anywhere with a valid passport and clean (non) criminal record and visa can be issued pretty automatically... Anyway that is the pattern I am seeing. I am really bitter about this too, for years I have been waiting for him to come to a show in Europe and it is not happening!!! :palmf:

^I understand this visa issue so well. My friend is living in UK and yet many times she sent me frustrating message like: "I don't want to blame our country at all but our visa is treated so badly here."
It is sad and frustrating. I hope Misha will sort out this issue asap and go to SC.

It's because where he's from. The problem is that he cannot just show up at the embassy, he has to give them the invitation letter and he has to do this at least 15 days before his trip. The consulate cannot guarantee that he'll get his passport back in less than 10 days, though the process, officially is 4 to 15. He actually has to present a mountain of documents apart from his passport - filled in forms, photographs, medical insurance, photocopies of the first three pages of passport pages with previous Schengen visas, since he is a resident of the US he'd have to enclose that, return tickets, proof of being able to financially support himself, proof of confirmed accommodation and since he's traveling for work, a sporting event, the invitation letter I mentioned. I doubt anything has changed since the last time I watched my friend from EE get all this together. To top that off, none of this guarantees he'll get a visa.

Thanks for the explanation! - I know several people who visited Russia, where visa is required for EU citizens to do so (I believe also for the US citizens) no one said it was such a complicated business - although the visa issue and possible complication associated with it is one intimidating factor and keep me from thinking about visiting Russia, as much as I would love to. This sounds like a job for a specific agent/representative, especially for a busy body like him. He should hire one...

Misha the Cavalier was gorgeous!!!!:luv17: The 5th place just slipped out of his hands, but it was a great result. So happy to see him cheerful and like good ol'Misha in the Kiss and Cry, LOVED the costumed Stitch!!! :2thumbs:

Misha got such an ovation in the arena. I stood before he finished!

Wasn't that a magical skate?! So happy to share in his special moment. My hands hurt from clapping so hard! :)

My section stood in the arena too... we kept waiting for him to finish so we could jump up. So proud of this performance... he had us eating out of his hand, lol.

And such a nice guy... at practice yesterday he slapped the hands of 2 little girls when he went by them, and flashed them the peace sign, and they were so happy! He did it 2x and it made me smile to see someone, obviously busy, taking the time to make their day.

Yay, Misha.
