I know I posted some of the collages I made a few weeks ago, but I just discovered Windows Movie Maker, and I'm hooked! I made a montage called "Jump!" The music is Van Halen's "Jump" and you can probably guess what's in it. Anyways please take a look and tell me what you think. It's not very long.

Jump! Montage

Edited to add: Shoot! I gave you the version with no ending! Here's the better version:

I made it with Windows Movie Maker, which comes automatically with Windows XP. I just imported all my videos on my computer and split the clips as much as needed, and then added audio. With a bit of research it's quite easy to do.

Oh, wow, those were fantastic, CDMM. I just downloaded both of them. Just super. My fave in the Jump montage was Midori Ito -- that huge smile on her face was worth the price of admission right there!

In the Spin montage, it seems so perfectly timed to the music. Did you speed up and slow down the video to make it all come out right to the beat, or did you select spins that were already exactly at the right tempo?

For your next project ("Moves in the Field Montage, by CDMM," LOL), there must be a lot of songs with the word "move" in them. :)

Mathman :)

These are AWESOME!!!

LOL, I love the "Dizzy?" at the end of the Spin one. :) And yes I was!!

I think something with a "Kiss & Cry" theme has potential too! :)

Thanks for sharing these. Great fun! ITA with MM that the look on Midori's face is worth the price of admission all by itself. :)

Tehe! Thanks MM and DG! Love getting feedback on my hard work.

MM: I wish I could say I did something extremely technical with the spin montage so that changes of the positions hit the beats perfectly like that, but I have to confess that I think I'm just extremely lucky. Didn't take the time to figure that out at all. Just put the clips together and then added the music! haha my favorite was the beat changes EXACTLY on the position changes of Johnny Weir's combo spin at the start. It was like a match made in heaven!

I'm finished my Field Movements Montage to R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly" and am just about to go get my link from yousendit and post it here. Hopefully I'll post it within twenty minutes.

Please give me the kind of great feedback you've given me for these montages for my next attempt!

Here we go! Here's the newest montage of mine. :) It's to R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly" from "Space Jam". It's about four and a half minutes long.

I Believe I Can Fly Montage

GEEZ. Now you're makin' me cry. :)

OK, so what about a tribute to Roy Orbison in the Kiss 'n' Cry area?????

You now have your own folder in my "downloads" section of my computer. :)

DG

My only problem is I'm not sure if I have that many vids with the kiss&cry area in them. I'll see if I have enough for a short montage. What song were you suggesting?

That's "Crying" by the great Roy Orbison!, LOL. You have to be a certain age to be into it, but here it is if you want to hear it (click on crying -- it opens in Windows Media). :) :agree:

Then segue into "Pretty Woman" (#20)

Thanks for the link MM. I'll see what kind of K&C footage I can find in my collection and see what I can put together. Did you download the "I Believe I Can Fly" montage? What did you think?

OK, so I'm old. As you can tell from that smile, at least I still have my teeth.

The Amazon clip of Pretty Woman is MUCH better than the clip of Crying. (well, it will always be Cryin' to me!!)

CDMM, keep those great montages comin'!!

What would you think about a montage of skaters crying? Either in the Kiss n' Cry or while still skating a la Michelle Kwan 2002 Olys FOG

I sort of think a "Crying" montage could be wonderful in terms of capturing the extreme emotions of competition. Joys. Sorrows. Wins. Losses. Just letting things go / out. Thrills. Chills. I think it would be cool!

DG

So I've been trying to think of footage that I have or could easily get of skaters crying. This is what I have so far:

Michelle Kwan FoG
Johnny Weir 2004 US Nats
Tara Lipinski 1998 Olys
Sarah Hughes 2002 Olys

Some that I'm not sure but though that there might be some crying involved :P:

Johnny Weir 2005 US Nats
Salé/Pelletier 2001 Worlds
Oksana Baiul 1994 Olys
Kristi Yamaguchi 1992 Olys
Michelle Kwan 1998 Olys before she knew she didn't win
Michelle Kwan 1996 Worlds (first world championship)

PLEASE tell me if you have any other thoughts or if you have footage of any of these skaters crying [tehe sound like such a strange request] or any others, please post a yousendit link!

DG: I'll try to keep the montages coming, but school's starting relatively soon so I might not have quite as much extra time lying around once September 8th rolls around haha. But I find it a lot of fun and love seeing the product start with 50 some four minute long videos and cutting and pasting and adding and editing to form a finished product that I can share with lots of other people. So all that said, I really hope I'll be able to continue making montages. Please when you come up with any ideas, just post them in this thread!

OK, I just downloaded "I believe I can fly." You had me cryin' with that one. LOL. I like the mix of junior hopefuls with the established stars. They really look like they believe, LOL. You should mix in a little snip of yourself skating!

Who was the dark-haired lady in the black costume near the end? Was it Silvia Fontana?

MM - "I believe I can fly" about had my cryin' too. It's awesome.

CCMD - What?? Your schoolwork is more important than entertaining US???? ;) Seriously...best wishes with your school work. What are you studying?

DG

Well, I'm only fourteen so I'm just starting high school this year. I'm sure I'll still have time to put some things together. Maybe just not as often. tehe. It might be difficult to keep 1-2 every day going! haha.

MM: Yes that was Silvia Fontana. Glad you liked that one! Do you have any ideas for the cying montage? I was thinking about maybe changing the song, not sure to what yet, and making it more a montage of extreme emotion in general. That might give me a little more to choose from, though it would still be very helpful if the GSers had any videos to contribute! haha.

DG: Do YOU have any ideas about the newest montage?

ETA: Well you know how my favorite coincedence with the last one was johnny weir's position changes right to the music? Well with I Believe I Can Fly my favorite was definitely Yu-Na-Kim "flapping her arms" like they were flying just as the line "I believe I can spread my wings, and fly away" was playing :P
