Hmmm...

I would bet money that she goes to college for awhile, maybe even graduates, and gets married and has kids. She may even end up as a coach or in figure skating in some other capacity i.e. as a commentator. But I doubt that she goes on to a major career in political science or anything else for that matter. I think what she wants is a personal life. She has lived a pretty intense life for quite awhile now. Just my intuition.

Nothing wrong with wanting a family. I could see Michelle serving as a goodwill ambassador, especially during the Olympics a la Yamaguchi.

Kristi retired from SOI to start her family, but continued to be active in skating as an ambassador. She's not coaching or choreographing, etc.

There's lots of 'political' stuff in the administration of figure skating. Not saying that MK would want ot get involved with the backroom shenanigans, but there are behind the scenes ways of staying involved with skating.

So far, Michelle is not known for political activism -- and she said about her most recent trip to the White House, when told that they would be discussing politics and current events, she thought (but didn't say) that all she could talk about was current events in skating. I assume that she votes,and she may donate money to the candidates of her choice, but she has kept quiet about her opinions. If DU has a SIno-American relations program, she might be thinking in terms of eventual employment in the business end -- with her endorsement deals with Maxxis tires (a Chinese company breaking into the US) or maybe East West Bank,. she has some connections.

If she has decided on getting a degree in Political Science, then I feel she must have some sort of plan. Of course today many students change their major throughout their 4 years of college and Michelle could do that later on if she doesn't feel it is right for her.

Karen Kwan got a degree in something but began coaching after she got out of school so maybe that is what Michelle is also planning to do in the future. I always thought that East West Ice Palace was a plan for her future.

Michelle has always been a good role model. If she goes back to school she is sending a message to other athletes that you can do well in sports but it is still important to get an education. Kind of like - Practice what you Preach.

If, by "preach", you mean, "when did Michelle say that other athletes should do this", she never did say anything -- she only sets a good example. If, by "preach", you merely mean "when did Michelle say anything about college", it wason the Bud Greenspan "Biography" where she said that education was very important to her and her family. She has repeatedly stated in recent interviews that she intends to complete her degree.

I'm aware that MK wants to complete college, and what a better time to do that than now, IMO.

Michelle has been involved in handing over monies for college. I believe that was with Disney but I could be wrong on the Disney thing. There was a picture of her posted about 2 years ago in a dorm with college students all sitting on the floor and talking about education among other things.

Once again I could be wrong but isn't there some kind of award Michelle is involved in where teens send in essays to win college funding. I believe her name is included in the award. The Michelle Kwan ____ ____. It seems that Disney is involved in this award.

My mind isn't what it used to be so I can't remember all the details.
