Most improved skaters so far

Volozov is still very stiff. If you watched his step sequence, he's lumbering around pretty badly. I don't think he has improved much in terms of skating skills. It's just this program that's able to hide his weakness by highlighting her in the spotlight. I truly enjoy this program.

I've seen her only the same times you have, and I agree with what you wrote. I thought at Cup of China - the opening part to the program is too fast and frenetic and every jump in that first section looks too rushed including the landings. If she can speed up the inbetweens in that first section so that she has more time to complete the jumps then it might look better. The rest of the program I enjoyed.
Also agreed - i loved them last season and hoped that they would step up this season, and they certainly did at Cup of China. As Nicky and Chris on Eurosport kept saying "he was really seeing her a lot more during the program". I think this might be a new favourite phrase of theirs but he really was interacting with her during the program much more and that "pairness" is really much imporved in him.
As someone said earlier in this thread - those lifts are just mind blowing. The reverse rotation into the laso lifts, the one handed lifts, they are just amazing.

As to the ladies, I would pick Ashley first, she impressed me a lot in COC, then comes Joannie.
they have a little pull. No if they really did listen to the fans,they would have changed this years ago.
But if you notice when the fans complain about certain skaters not making
to the GPF or their scores. They keep those so-called "improved skaters"up their the following year despite their flawed jumping technique and spins, and no passion, feeling intheir skating. Lastyear Kimmie,This year Joannie, Yurkari Nakano,carolina k among others.
Yes they don't have one the year they are complaining, but they do have influence the next season skating.
But hey--you guys think your sport is perfect, nothing wrong with you, fans,juding.you want it tocontinue in this same old rigging,cheating way as long as your skater stays up on top.

Hmm don't you like her? Sounds like you don't. That's fine. But she has had good showings at Nebelhorn and Skate Canada. She looks good in my books.
I don't believe Alissa has improved that much technically except not falling three times in a program. Her jumps are still as scary as in the past, all her triples are borderline underrotated. Her luck is really hinging on technical controller's call.
It has nothing to do with my personal like or dislike of her (that's completely irrelevant!); it simply means that I've only seen her at SC, and based on that showing it is FAR too early for me to say she's the most improved. Now, if she goes to COR and has a good showing there (by good, I partially mean having no more than, say, one fall in her FS), then we can talk. Even then, I'd like to see her at a 3rd competition (US Nationals) just to be sure.

Haha ok skeptical is good sometimes. Try and watch her programs at Nebelhorn though, she was good there too. But yeah we should wait until CoR. Then again, Ashley has only been seen once (CoC), as has Joannie (Skate Canada.....well TEB is on right now) so maybe it's too soon to tell for all of them?
