I don't think anyone suggested they were unknowns. My point is that it's not just their placement that was high, but that the quality of the skating, and of the two of them as a pair, has improved. Like lmarie086, I viewed Voloshozar as one of the top female pairs skaters currently competing, but in the past she and Morozov often seemed mismatched. They did not look mismatched at CoC.
I sure wish someone would put it on youtube.I just watched the Chinese Grand Prix. Ashley's Spartacus long program is very nice, very dynamic (different tempos, leading up to climax), and was well performed. She finished 4th.
I only saw her [Wagner] at 2008 Worlds before CoC, so she was definitely looking better, but I think she still lacks polish and elegance. Maybe that'll come as she gains experience and confidence.
As someone who does remember them [Ukranian Pair] from before - absolutely. She was always wonderful but there has been talk in the past that he was holding her back. They seem much better matched this season, and the programs work really well in showcasing what they can do. I think they might finally win a medal at Europeans, and they could do well at Worlds, too, if they keep this up.
Volozov is still very stiff. If you watched his step sequence, he's lumbering around pretty badly.

only their fans think they improved to better the skaters chances of medaling.

:chorus:I saw Jeremy Abbot live in Göteborg. He fell a lot and I fell for him. He did a good performance then. In CoC he was fabulous. I guess he is the rocket of this season.
I would suggest maybe Alissa. Not sure if it counts as "improved", she has been this good before, but I think she is back to good form. Her LP is beautiful.
I will wait until after COR to make that statement (if it can be made).

Hmm don't you like her? Sounds like you don't. That's fine. But she has had good showings at Nebelhorn and Skate Canada. She looks good in my books.

It has nothing to do with my personal like or dislike of her (that's completely irrelevant!); it simply means that I've only seen her at SC, and based on that showing it is FAR too early for me to say she's the most improved. Now, if she goes to COR and has a good showing there (by good, I partially mean having no more than, say, one fall in her FS), then we can talk. Even then, I'd like to see her at a 3rd competition (US Nationals) just to be sure.
I'm just like that- my custom title![]()
