Every season there are a few men who clearly told their costume designer: “Yes… but make it more dramatic.” Capes, sparkles, bold colors, theatrical themes — sometimes subtle, sometimes gloriously extra.

Which senior man wins the prize for most theatrical costume this season? 🎭

Share your favorites (or the ones that made you do a double take).

Poll to follow soon!

Welp there goes my afternoon productivity, as a proud member of the jury for the prestigious WTF costume awards I have Thoughts(tm). I will be nominating costumes in two subdivisions, the ones that made me go wow 🤩 and the ones that made me go ...wow 😳.

🤩 division:
- My darling Cha Junhwan, SP (first)
20250906_173127.jpg

It might look rather standard Men's Black(tm) on first glance but the wow factor is in the details, case in point the bouncing raindrops on his arms.

- Kim Aaron, SP
Talk about fabric, Aaron's mother (who made the costume) definitely went for it.
김아론-1.jpg

- Anthony Paradis, FS
Another case of all the fabric, only in white.

😳 division:

- Mihhail Selevko, SP
HRH the Cactus Prince Misha Selevko does not disapppoint. It is very fitting with the theme, but still it's a 😳 costume.

- Gabriele Frangipani, SP
The colors speak for themselves, methinks.

- Adam Siao Him Fa, SP (first)
Do I need words even.

Will add more later

Kevin Aymoz Bolero costume with dramatic red hand & arm

And decolletage! :wonder: His blue gladiator one at the Olys was also good (mind you, Kevin is so drenched in drama anyway that everything he wears gets an extra dose of theatre - he could borrow Nathan or Keegan's dulleties and make them dramatic. And oh I wish I had not thought up that mental image)

Of course, I would save some of the more... spectacular spectacle like that.... Idonothavewords of Adam's, Ilia's SP (bad 90s scifi/soft porn knockoff) and the unholy awfulness of the Russian Semenenko for the WTF competition. I am sure @elektra blue will agree with me

I would also vote for Mikhail's Dune, which is the best for Dune I have ever seen.

Part 2 of my nominations, both 🤩 and :

🤩 division

- Matias Lindfors, FS

That costume is made of actual leather. It's really heavy and he feels weighted down by it. Talk about dedication.

 division

- Vladimir Litvintsev, FS

This Joker is not dressed in purple or green, he's dressed in blood. Peak cinema.

- Matias Lindfors, SP

The concept of adding more paint splatters. QED.

Might add more later after day 1 of JWC is over

Zhenya wins everything hands down

Mattias has splatters on his ear lobes too this time around :love2:

According to ChatGPT:

Ilia Malinin

Short Program — “Prince of Persia” — 2026 Winter Olympics
Satomi Ito’s design for Malinin’s Olympic Short Program elevated men’s costuming into full character embodiment. The sand-toned mesh base, leather-like strap appliqué, and jewel accents sculpted a warrior silhouette while preserving quad-jump mobility. Strategic torso paneling sharpened V-shape proportion under broadcast lighting; metallic trims flashed during rotational velocity, reinforcing heroic theatricality. Unlike conventional embellished shirts, this costume constructed a persona — mythic, cinematic, and stage-scaled. It did not decorate the program; it authored it.

ChatGPT needs to get a grip... I'm pretty sure this came straight from one of my worst (aka funniest) romantasy nightmare reads.
