Evan:

I love Tosca. I really surprised myslef here. Yes, it is a lot like Carmen, but it is everything that was good about carmen only better. His outfit looks great.. (who said black was best for him?) and i love the chreography. The thing about Evan is he really sells the whole program... and that makes the diffrence for me.

Patrick Chan:

another nice surprise. beautiful edges and spins, jumps look solid and effortless, i hope to see more of this young man. A quad and he could win worlds.

Diskue:

So happy that he landed the quad. The SP was very good, not my favorite men's SP of all time, but difficult and well chreographed. All he needs is a better outfit for the LP.

Evan's LP just seemed too much like a rehash of Carmen... that being said, I wasn't a fan of Carmen until I saw it live... so I have hope... it was definitely a new program... but it didn't stand out...

Chan was the only LP that made me sit up and take notice.

I used to love Tosca, and there are other arias that they can use, but it seems that every choreographer wants to use E Lucevan... and the final suicide of Tosca. There are other pieces in that goshdarned opera! Now, everytime I see a Tosca program, I want to slit my wrists. The melody for E Lucevan is so depressing... it's far worse than the death scene in Carmen.

And it seems that every choreographer has used the same cut! Evan's Tosca was choreographed by Nichol, but it used the same cut as the THREE done by Morozov (Yagudin, Kwan, and Langlois/Archetto), the one for Irina (I forget the choreographer), the one Petrenko used as a pro, Volchkova's short a few years ago...
