Usually he's doing DOI at this time. But how about something other than rocketman? He must really love that program because he's probably performed it more than any other he's ever had.

It’s still early but he has more time working on new programs than he had in the past (unless there is something not known to us). That being said, I am still convinced that he’ll have a new sp since he moved on from Desperado early last season. Less sure about lp now.

He came up with all new programs when he was studying full time at Yale. I find it hard to believe that he is going to recycle old programs this season…

Ah Nathan, always so secretive. Guess we’ll have to wait until US classics or JO then. Disappointed that he didn’t have at least a new exhibition program though, as he seems to be able to pull one of those out of his hat with very short notice. Or he could’ve done La Bohème which he’s never performed in shows post-competitive season.

Also just realized it was the first time Nathan performing in shows in person since Sun Valley / JO 2019, excluding galas and that GPI recital. That’s a lot of Nathan appearances taken away by the pandemic.

Well this confirms he has new programs, just finished choreographing the short and just started working on the long.

Thanks, yeah I've already seen that, bless that Nathan fan for 'catching' him for a short greeting and info on the state of his new programs.

I know I'm being a whiney fan, but why does he always get his programs so late! 😩 I'm heartbroken, that they didn't schedule someone else for this early Sun Valley date, someone like Mariah or Jason who already have their programs. His early Sun Valley program debuts have always been among my absolute favourite performances/practices of them, and we already didn't get that the last season, and now neither this year. So I'm just super disappointed, especially when this was the last opportunity, considering he's more than likely retiring after this season.

I’m disappointed, too, but I‘m guessing it was Nathan’s decision to do the show at this time - considering his status as world champ and his long relationship with the Sun Valley ice show. Maybe he just wants to give his full and undivided attention to his training for the upcoming season going forward.

It's nice seeing Nathan's loyalty to the Sun Valley Ice Show and to his former coach. Nathan is that kind of cool, generous human being. Combined with his amazing talent, it's just mind-blowing. It would be so incredible to see him skate in person, not to mention meeting him in person.

I came across this CBC commentary of Nathan's 2021 Worlds fp. Kurt Browning and the other CBC announcers get that Nathan's extraordinary talent, extends far beyond his explosive, technically superb jumps and multiple rotation abilities!

As Kurt says, "Watch for little touches of choreography that Nathan makes look easy, riddled all through this program... He creates a pure meditative state, and then the power and command of the jumps... He makes it look easy. It's not."

Technically, he should be able to go to Canada for choreo for his FS from tomorrow July 5th. Fully vaccinated travelers should be able to enter without quarantining from midnight.
Hm, so does that mean, that he held out intentionally with his FS to go to MFD?
Or just a coincidence, and he's 'late' because he's always starting later than many other skaters...

Sigh... it is hard being a simultaneously curious and impatient person.

Haha, it's probably the latter (he's late as usual). :ROFLMAO: That being said, Jason and Nathan have the benefit of not going to Nebelhorn so they don't have to be ready for monitoring at Cranberry in August like the others where both Vincent and Yaro are registered. I assume Yaro is also aiming to get the TBD spot at Skate America. Nathan is apparently going to US International Classic in September so he has another month before he has to compete new programs and I think they are also looking at building throughout the Fall and peaking at the right time in Feb in Beijing.

I briefly looked up the Canadian government’s website explaining current travel restrictions, and it seems the closest category with quarantine exemption that Nathan falls under is as participant of an international single sport event. While this should allow him to go to SCI (or Autumn Classics) without quarantining, I doubt it would be applicable to getting choreography. (TBH I just don’t want to accept the possibility of him getting an MFD free skate for the Olympic season lol)

Where did you get that Vincent and Yaro are registered for Cranberry? I thought the lineup hasn’t been announced yet.

If you answer the questionnaire it says,
You may be able to travel to Canada if you are a high-performance amateur athlete participating in an International Single Sport Event (ISSE) or engaging in an essential role in relation to the event.
I think it could be argued that obtaining choreography is essential for his participation in SCI.

I think TSL said Vincent was doing Cranberry. Did they say Yaro, too? They said Nathan will do US Classic.

I agree. :) But I think it will be even easier to enter Canada from today when the new rules take effect (but you have to be fully vaccinated). I didn't actually check myself but got an email from our travel folks (I sometimes travel to Vancouver for work). Yes, Yaro, too.
