Nathan Chen

Yes, I think you would need a quad axel for a seven quad program. :)

Nope. It can be done with a 4-4. For instance, 4Lz4T, 4F3T, 4F, 4T1Lo3F, 4Lo, 4S, 3a would work. Incidentally, the BV for this layout with only 7 jumping passes would be higher than what Nathan did at the Olympics and Worlds with 8 jumping passes.

@yyyskate Oh! Sure. I watched it in person. Absolutely fell in love with him, after i watched his programs in person at 4cc :)

And I watched 17teamtrophy, 17gpf, OG,too.
It is very honor to watch his great performace in live.

:luv17: :luv17:
after you mentioned 4CC version, I checked out 4CC "stole the show" again, actually it is really good, on par with Nationals version, maybe even a little better.

I just read the interview more carefully this time - seems that Raf is also blaming the ISU for allowing younger than 18 year olds to compete as seniors. Which resulted in Nathan rushing to compete as a senior too quickly, attempting quads too early which resulted in his hip injury. I think he may have blamed Nathan before for going too hard at Nationals 2016 considering he had a pre-existing injury. And who knows whose fault it was that Nathan competed at senior nationals 2015 for the first time clearly injured.
I guess that according to Raf, it’s always someone else’s fault 😡

yes, and looked how Nathan, as well as Shoma, Kayada's answer to ISU's possible rule change (maybe unreasonable, especially for Nathan)
They all said, they will adapt to the rule changes. instead of wining even a tiny bit.

I like a man who is accountable and takes responsibility.

Nathan is one, that is the definition of a real men. not just competing while injured/sick.

I am a fan of Nathan, not a fan of Raf. But, I will keep a open mind about Raf mostly due to Nathan, and will keep a very close eye on how Nathan's figure skating will develop for the next couple of year still working with Raf.

If a coach can turn a plain crystal into diamond (the admirable work team BO did for Javi), he is a magical coach. If the original material is already a raw diamond not so much.

Nathan is a once-in-a-generation figure skating talent, his first coach recognized that and handled him with extreme care and responsibility.

I really hope Nathan can be guided in the correct direction in the future and fulfill his figure skating talent in all aspects.

EDIT: another thing bugs me about Raf is that, why does him give this kinda interview only to Russian media, why didn't him give similar interview to American media such as IN etc. where is his integrity?

aww, short but sweet message and he chose a great photo to post. He hardly seems to post on IG - he knows how to keep us wanting more lol ... and looking so handsome in that close up

Did you mean to link this photo earlier? Looking handsome in his suit and love the rogue baby curl

eta: random question, has Nathan ever worn braces? His slightly crooked smile is super cute and he might have a slight cross bite - I don’t recall seeing him with braces before and we’ve pretty much seen him at every age haha

told ya, our boi is very smart.
And no, Nathan never wore braces, he is ALLL natural. his alignment is natural born. told ya, once in a generation talent, stars aligned.

but according to SLT, there are also possible a reduction of the number of quads that can be repeated, the max number of quads can be repeated in today's FS is just 2. so if it is reduced, it gonna be only 1, if you only have 5 different kinds of quad, you can only do 6 max.

just realized that, I posted before that I hoped Nathan to win a competition with large margin like Yuna Queen's 2010 OG and 2013 WC win, a whooping 20 points margin. that is absolute dominance.
Guess what, Nathan somehow did it with the largest winning margin 47+ close to 50 in figure skating history.
However, this is in a situation that some of his strongest competitors did not show up and all of other competitors in this events falls really badly.
So now, the upgraded hope is Nathan can still win with large margin when all of his competitors delivered as well in the future.

Okay, this fan's standard for Nathan is always the highest:palmf::biggrin: no pressure Nathan, no pressure.

Can see Nathan better in his suit in this photo and also featuring Nam:

Nathan at the airport (lol at the caption and I have wondered about his skincare routine myself):

about skincare routine.
if you ask him in person, like a fan asked him what shampoo he used to keep his bouncy curls, I bet he will answer, use whatever available, it is all natural again.

EDIT: yes his tie in this banquet is way too long, and I kinda think the color and pattern is way too modest.. but the suit itself, is very dashing, suave, whatever adjective you wanna use, on him this time. Our Boi is getting there.

Without knowing all the details of the new rules, I would just assume everyone has to take out one jumping pass from their LP under their current layout.

And you know, Nathan would be at a huge disadvantage since he would need to take out either 3F+1/2L+3S or 4T since these are the lowest scoring passes (assuming 3A will be still a mandatory element).
Other top skaters would just take out a triple.

The first thing Nathan might need to work on is to be able to do 4T+1/2L+3S. That way, he would only need to take out 3F, similar as everyone else, and keeps his BV higher than everyone else.

@hhh I personal think the little white collar design is inspired not only by the hosting country culture, korean's hanbok. Actually, it is an universial collar design used in ancient China and spread out to all neighboring eastern asian countries including Korea's hanbok and Japan's yukada/kimono. This collar style is at its aesthetic highest status at Han dynasty.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanfu#/media/File:Zhiju.svg http://www.sinaimg.cn/dy/slidenews/4_img/2013_27/704_1016358_188538.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emperor_Wu_of_Han
the only difference is how sides are folded, the authentic way is left side over right side, and Nathan's FS little white collar is right over left https://pmcdeadline2.files.wordpress.com/2018/02/nathan.jpg?w=446&h=299&crop=1
I guess that is a little modern twist then:biggrin: but if you are talking with purist, they will be very mad about that:biggrin:.

or he can do 4T-LO-3F the he only take out the 3S with an even higher BV.

and Nathan can do both 4T--3f, 4T--3S in practice. there are video clips for both.

It was fantastic!😆 Actually,All over 4CC, the most memorable moment for me is the exhibition. Because I can watch his movement which the reason i fell in love with him. ( But also his SP, FS performance in 4CC were speechless )

EDIT: another thing bugs me about Raf is that, why does him give this kinda interview only to Russian media, why didn't him give similar interview to American media such as IN etc. where is his integrity?

Probably because he's not asked. Coaches don't just go around asking reporters if they want their interviews. I also don't really know what you mean when you say Raf is not accountable.

You are so lucky! I LOVED his ˋ4CC exhibition, I think it was skated with even more freedom and swag than at US Nationals! And the program also got smoother and smoother as he performed them during SOI.

I said the orient which includes China and its influence carried from the dynasties. Yes the posts on this forum displayed how upsetting it was to the posters which is fine, everyone’s taste and style is different. Thanks.

As for the tie, I think it’s a length some men stylists are playing with, just saying. Milanese men definitely wouldn’t mind :) Osmond of Canada said she’s going to Japan straight after Milan so I assume Nathan is too since the rehearsal is coming up soon.

as for what I mean Raf is not accountable among other things about him that bugs me, just my personal impression of him from his various recent interviews, I have made it very clear on this thread and would not dwell on that. Again my personal opinion, I do not like him. I am a fan of Nathan, thus I will keep a open mind about Raf only because of Nathan. Move on.

Maybe it's time to guess which school is Nathan going to. Is he coming to the east coast? Although unlikely I will be thrilled if he goes to Columbia…then I will definitely spot him in local rinks.
