@1111bm what is your fav 4T entry transition then?

Ha, I first couldn't come up with anything, because I'm satisfied with the FO 3turn entry most skaters do and I don't "need" the 3turn to be linked to something fancy and difficult and a skater can just do any steps they like and that fit their program before the 3turn...

But then I remembered that Nathan sometimes does his FO 3turn out of an outside spread eagle... and that one looks pretty... nothing exciting, but simple and elegant, and has a different rhythm to it than what you would get from "busy footwork", but why not, if it fits the music/mood (which it certainly does in Mao's last dancer)?

Me! The first time I was Nathan was Le Corsaire at National. I LOVED the program and the skater. I was like, holy cow, where did this guy come from? The program really highlighted his dance training, his musicality, great posture and attention to details down to hands and fingers. The costume is also perfect. Suits the music, showcases his body line but not over the top.

In order of my preference of Nathan's competitive programs:
Le Corsaire
Nemesis
Prince Igor
......
MLD (Yes I really dislike this program. Minus Nathan, I dislike pretty much everything else.)

SkatingMusic - SAME - I first saw Nathan at Nationals 2017 and had a very similar reaction.

yes that spread eagel + 4T in last dancer is a nice touch.

but the original choreo the spread eagel is in front of 3A, and when he does it, with its orginal ballet arm design, it reminds me of Yuri on Ice. always.

so I was a little angry when he drop it and tagged in front of his 4T. nothing wrong with his spread eagle +4T tho, just personal issues here

and in Le Corsaire he does that spread eagle (with ballet arm) into 3A

^^ that’s the down side of them but I thought their pro was that they’re very driven and ambitious which can then lead to the bad if they’re not careful. Wasn’t that why Harry could have been either house? It’s been years since I’ve seen the movie if you couldn’t tell haha

I meant historically, has he ever said he wants to do something or work on something and then just gave up on it or not done it or only did the bare minimum related to his skating? I’m genuinely asking, I’m curious

Actually yes.. I think this year was a prime example of that. Both of his programs (esp MLD) could’ve been so much more and made people so excited at the beginning of the season. But he sort of gave up on performing in Nemesis, and MLD was frankly reduced a jumpfest compared to what it was in the early phase. Others may feel differently, but I think I’ll always hurt a little remembering MLD was not being developed into that artistic masterpiece it had all the promise to be. And this was with him speaking prior to the start of the season of wanting to develop and show his artistic side, and hence him seeking out Lori and Shae for choreo...
