Nathan Chen

^^^So he has already started with his plan of commuting to Montreal on the weekends? Wow, I give him a lot of credit. What a schedule he must keep! But then, I guess he's used to that since childhood -- what with ballet, gymnastics, piano, skating, etc.

I honestly think his childhood schedule may have been tougher, although he did have Mom to chauffeur him around back then. Yale really seems to be helping him out with the scheduling, and having access to the on campus rink is a godsend. He should also have plenty of time to do homework during his weekend commutes. The only thing I'm concerned with is his having to drive the 30 min to the off campus rink. Hopefully he has a good, safe, car to navigate the roads in winter.

Back on campus.

I remember seeing that old, old video of him where it showed what his day was like with all his activities. The schedule was insane. I was exhausted just hearing about it, let alone doing it! :bed:

Add hockey to the list. He stopped playing hockey around age of 15???

Per his mom, going to different classes helped him not feeling burned out or bored, so I guess he was raised this way.

He just seems to be the type who needs to be constantly in motion. He says he fidgets a lot, and that's probably why he always has the underarm sweat stains before even taking the ice.

Back at Yale, Nathan gets a free bike. But what what he really needs is a car!

The page needs some rework in several places.

oatmella, good catch for the lanyard

sheetz, let’s hope a safe and reliable car would come soon

For the weekend Montreal trip, I wish he could take limo services or train to get to the airport in winter or bad weather days instead of driving himself

Limo services? How about just an uber?

I assume he would take one of the shuttle/bus services instead of driving himself. Many students don't have a car so they rely on those to get to the airport.

Guys, I need your help!!
I'm collecting some technical stats about Nathan and I'm a bit desperate :hopelessness:

U.S. International 2017. Free skate. I rewatched that program and to be honest - I have no idea which of the triples were intended to be triples and which not. None of them looked like a popped quad to me really...
4Lo
4Lz
3F+3T

3Lz+2T
3F
2T
3S
3A+2T*+2Lo

Do you know?

The planned layout on this page didn't have really much to do with Nathan's actual layout so it's not a big help...

Nathan planned on doing on 3 quads in that competition. The 2T in the second half was to be the 3rd quad (4T).

This is the awkward period before Nathan competes in Japan Open. I’m dying to know his layout, but sadly we all have to wait. :ohwell:

Here's a table of LV's and GOE's plus average GOE's and success rates of Nathan's technical elements since 2016 (ISU events only):
https://twitter.com/Henni147/status/1037765112793378816

I left out the 3F, 3S and several combos, which Nathan only attempted once or twice (success rates would be quite pointless and the table too huge...)
He has done so many different variations of 3-jump-combos with 2T and 2Lo that I put some of them together. The BV is only calculated for the first two jumps.

It's very interesting to see the direct comparison with Yuzu's stats (you can find them under the link above as well). Nathan doesn't have to hide at all  His table is quite impressive.

Thanks for sharing! I am surprised to see that his favorite 4T success rate is so low, lower than his nemesis 3A :shocked:Or should I rephrase it that his 3A is not really that bad, it actually has higher success rate than his favorite 4T.:palmf:
