Nathan Chen

I'm sure Brendan and Nathan have known each other for a long time, plus Brendan also trains in California like Nathan does. I noticed they hung out a lot at GP France and also at Worlds.

I don't know how to link to an IG story - but Nathan spent his birthday (after all the traveling) with Madison and Evan. Madison posted a video and picture on her Instagram story plus this picture, Evan posted this one and Nathan posted this one, taken by Madison!

^^^Forgot they're in Chicago for Stars on Ice. They perform tomorrow. But in the meantime they were able to celebrate Nathan's big day! Wonder where they went.

Maybe. I really liked his Michael Jackson short from 2015-16. But then again it's also Olympic season so they won't want to be too experimental.

Is anything non-warhorse in the Olympic season considered experimental?

Video from the NBC shoot was used for a one-minute Olympic promo that aired within NBC's coverage of the Kentucky Derby. Mike Tirico introduced the promo.

Nathan and Ashley were included  along with the likes of Shaun White, Lindsey Vonn, Mikaela Shiffrin, Chloe Kim, and a few others.

My belated Happy 18th Birthday wishes to Nathan :hb:.

Charlie White has a funny/cute Instagram story with video of Nathan, Evan, and himself laughing at themselves as they consume a conspiratorial late-night snack of burgers and shakes. "We're just supporting the Olympic movement here ...," quips Charlie, "... with our McDonald's" [as Nathan holds up the McD's bag]. "Everyone else is probably sleeping."

I love that he has such a unique style and is not afraid to show it. I think very few 17/18 year old boys would be brave enough to skate a program like this. I laughed when he flung the phone across the ice (2min 7sec). What will the Japanese audiences think of that? LOL

How many programs do you think he'll do at DOI? Two? If he gets to do two - I want him to do that one for sure (and maybe whatever ends up being his SP or something... hehe!)

Nathan is already showing us signs of his versatility! I think people who think he is only about jumps are going to be in for a big surprise next year. My guess is they'll play it safe with his choices of music, being that it's an Olympic year. I have a feeling we're in for a treat!

I think everyone usually does only one program since there are so many skaters. The purpose of the show is supposed to be for Japanese skaters to debut their competitive programs but it's not a requirement for them to do that. Also, Medvedeva was a guest last year and I believe she only did her Sailor Moon EX.

That makes sense! I think I saw that Medvedeva is going to be there this year too. Ok, now I definitely want him to do the Parachute program so we can get a good video of it. (This is the one they air on TV in Japan right?)

Yeah it's usually televised and seems to be pretty big event. Other foreign guest skaters over the past few years have included: Medvedeva, Plushenko, Duhamel/Radford, Tuktamysheva, and Fernandez. So it's a pretty big deal for Nathan to have been invited.

Japanese ice shows pay very well. So it's a great chance. But not all foreign skaters introduced their new programs there.
