Nathan Chen

recommend watch Nathan's new FS with ear phone or any great audio system.
to experience the nuance of Nathan's movement, and how it refects the music,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NejdonImvKg
e.g. very subtle arm, finger movement as demanded by the music(also sharp contrast when needed ), gentle, gentle jump landing (quad jump, just saying) matches delicate note, and music structures of spins (have to say I didnot expect such great attention to music structure in spins in both SP and FP)
I am hooked, wanna watch over and over again.

:jaw:
OH.
WOW.
OKAY so I didn't know Nathan was like, the perfect mix of artist and athlete lol wow. So.

Honestly though, yeah now I'm really seeing it. All of the small movements and details and just the way he carries himself. I don't know how I didn't see the depth of it before. It's obviously something that is both natural and something that has been trained for a very long time. Heck. For people like me that came into the sport recently and only saw a limited side of him, this season is going to be a wild ride. I'M SO READY. :hap57:

:)

the very important thing I realized about Nathan this past weekend after he debuted his programs in SLC is how equally he's able to challenge and dare the audience and himself: by his way of movement, by music choices, by choreography, by expression. And for me, there is a continuation of that US Men innate feature of great feel of the music and confidence in stylish performance put on ice. Moreover - with Nathan, I see it in a broader perspective already, as he seems to be able to present a great, seamless balance between making a general impact by the whole picture created and at the same time - build it based on intricacy of details in a form of arm movements, upper body work, head moves etc. And personally I love the originality, modern spin reflected in all elements involved with Nathan - music, choreography, expression, style, way of movement, all with quite impactful reception I would say.

As I wrote already in specific SP thread from the competition, I see this package, how Nathan work with it and presents it, I see those programs totally as a points of self-reference for Nathan. His stuff, his rules, his take and his ownership. Really looking forward to GP series:)

Rented "Mao's last dancer" from iTune. An incredibly inspiring, touching story. I got all teared up at the end when Cunxin Li was surprised on stage by ... (not to be a spoiler in case you get to watch it).

Love how he unapologetically tells the interviewer he just "loves jumps"--and he has done that a number of times now--despite being an artist.

OMG, that's so long it would take me forever to translate. Basically, they talk a lot about their impressions of each other and what they thought about each other and of Boyang in juniors. Shoma says that although he himself is not fully grown yet, it seems like Nathan has really grown up.

Regarding the dinner after WTT, the 4 members of Team America were waiting outside the restaurant because it was full. Shoma and his friend saw them and had a reservation for 6 but only 2 of them showed up, so they invited the Americans to join them.

The interviewer asks each of them to tell the other about things to do in their respective hometowns. Nathan talks about going to beach and shopping around Long Beach, but Shoma says he doesn't really go out so Nathan might actually know more about Japan than he does. But he loves playing games and recommends a popular one. Nathan says his brother is like that, too.

thanks for the translation! So what do they think of Boyang in juniors?

They were both amazed and inspired by Boyang's quads in juniors, even as they were still struggling with 3A. And then after seeing him land 4Lz so easily, it motivated them to attempt the harder quads.

Thanks guys for all these cute fluff.
I watched the movie "Mao's last dancer" last night.
I think the beginning of Nathan's FS is from the sound track in the movie
brush dance 'zhang ban qiao (not quite sure, since the passage used in the movie seems does not cover the entire part of Nathan's FS before stsq, but definitely, some of it is from Brush dance)
so the music cut of Nathan's FS maybe:
brush dance, the rite of spring, Village Dance and Finale

cannot find brush dance, on youtube or other video webside... maybe able to listen/download it thru other way...

I guess most of you guys here may already knew it:biggrin:, but it seems nobody on this board posted the possible entire music edit of Nathan's long.
