Liked the People's interview, a few quotes
"My name is Nathan CHEN"
"there are people to make sure the music is tuned properly for the program, so that it sounds good in a stadium"
“I worked my entire life for that moment, I am not gonna just give it up that easy”

Also Ashley use one word to describe Nathan which is "quiet":scratch3: That is interesting.

If ask me, I will use "moody" but Nathan BOI kept it all inside.

The latest issue of ESPN the Magazine with the article on Nathan is now out and available on Kindle. I was able to get a free 30-day subscription on Amazon and read the article. It's definitely worth reading and I highly recommend it. One important fact revealed: It was Vera Wang's idea to cut Nathan's hair!

I think that was pretty obvious, that's what I said all along... especially since he went to some "fancy" celebrity hair guy...

I still can't fathom why she changed his whole look, when his original appearance was already such a perfect fit in terms of aesthetics etc.
Almost feels like she thought she had to change it, so that it was obvious that she had styled him at all, or otherwise people would question her involvement.

But I noticed in Today's USA Olympic Team announcement, that his hair has already grown out a bit, so here's hoping... ;)

Ugh, yeah. I went back to watch his SP from Rostelecom, and honestly he looked SO much cooler there and, I don’t know, more charismatic? It’s almost like Vera just doesn’t get Nathan and why he is special, nor the vibe of the program. Anyway, what’s done is done and I just really hope he doesn’t go back to Vera Wang again next season.

Nathan said the biggest secret to quad is to get OVER that mental block.
I think it is so true in many aspects of life.
Nathan also said, he will experience his own OG experience, not particular follow anyone else's suggestion or experience, I think it is also very cute.

As for Nathan's hair....

Don't wanna criticize anymore. has been said enough.

Just a side note. his short hair reminds me of his short hair when he landed 4 quads won the bronze (which was a scandal, should have won) but injured himself in the gala at 2016 Nationals.
Every time I thought of that moment, I was inspired by Nathan BOI.

Nobody really believed he will come back stronger then ever. He was left behind by his rivals, and his fans (not many to begin with) also started to doubt/drop him...

It is really inspirational.

EDIT: Nathan BOI not only come back stronger than ever, but also cuter and hotter than ever.:luv17:

The article in ESPN Magazine was really, really good. I liked that part about how Raf took Nathan to go practice after the SA free skate to get all of the bad thoughts out of his head.

@sheetz

Thank you sooo much for the ESPN article, I just read it.

GREAT article!!!

I'm in tears. Nathan BOI I love you.

Okay, ignore my emotions:biggrin: something mentioned in the article, I dont quite understand, It mentioned Nathan's instagram post in the end "This word is commonly referred to as life😂" what does this(or this instagram post) mean? what word?

From the comments, he concurred it's Balls - bravery, courage, authority and manly. Balls is life.

So ignore was Vera that made him cut off his lovely curls.

The point is that Vera (or team Nathan who were involved in his packaging) thought that his new look fits his programs...

I beg to differ a little. I think his SP old look (curls + black shirt with rolled up sleeves) is a much better fit than his new look for the program. The old look even feels(looks like) Benjamin Clementine

For the FS, the new look may has some grounds.

I remembered before, Evan Lysacek used to change his hair color between SP and FS to fit the programs. but it is impossible for Nathan BOI to grow his curls back between programs.

On a side note, although not really watched Evan's programs that much, but Evan is indeed the first Male skater I have ever watched on TV. I was amazed by him back then. One thing I remembered the most about Evan is that, the commentator says he trained so hard for the 2010 OG, that he did not prepare a exhibition number. So he just skated his last year's program. He was in that tuxedo, and it was perfect, He was so dashing and handsome back then.

EDIT: you know all those OG talks, young male skaters (Nate, Vince) mentioned Evan, brings back those memories.

Yep, exactly…

Anyway, what’s done is done and I just really hope he doesn’t go back to Vera Wang again next season.

That’s what I fear… never mind that I personally don’t like the packaging she chose for Nathan this season, but she seems to only have this one style/aesthetic that she apparently imposes on every male client of hers…
I mean look at Evan’s costumes that she designed… it’s always the same shtick… it sure gets repetitive.
So contrary to what they would like us to believe, I don’t get the impression that she actually tries to match it with the skater’s program and/or character and have it fit their personal style.

After reading the interview (thank you so much @sheetz for uploading!) I now feel bad for him, because it really sounds like he didn’t wanna cut his hair, and it was exactly as I said, they made him do it and he felt obligated to follow through with it…
and now he is the one who kinda gets the backlash for it…

I realise it’s just a haircut and not something super dramatic ;), but I’m just super touchy when people interfere with someone’s preferred appearance/style and press them to change it (and it’s not just because I myself prefer the curly hair on him).

It is really cold in asia right now, maybe even colder in South Korea.
Nathan's fans worried about him. Hope Nathan is prepared for the coldness in South Korea.
FANS always worry toooo much.

"cold never bothered me anyway" But Nathan BOI please do take great care of yourself.
