Nathan Chen

the part I find most assuming is Nathan has done all these jump or combos except one.

when did Nathan do 4S-3T?

EDIT: Nathan could do 4LZ+3LOOP in the future (Vincent is secretly practicing it). he has a nice 3lz-3loop before.

^^ Indeed, Nathan plays around with combos all the time:biggrin:
my personal secret dream combo from Nathan. 4lz+4t, 3a+4t (which has alread been landed beautifully by Shoma in practices)
as for 4LZ+4T, he can attempt a 3lz+4T first. as for 3a+4T:palmf:

True. Knowing him, he's probably training it as we speak. It was a smart move last season training both the 4Lz+3T and 4F+3T.

In addition to practicing to the combo itself, don’t they often practice adding a toeloop onto almost any jump in case of the need to meet the combo requirement or a suboptimal landing on the first half of the combo? I seem to vaguely recall Eurosport discussing various exercises to practice adding a xT under awkward circumstances, such as pushing off from the boards and performing it from a dead stop.

I depends on the skater. I know Shoma can't do a 4F+3T or a 4Lo+3T yet. Maybe the skater waits until the feel confident enough in their jump before they start training that. Nathan is very different. When he gets a jump, he tries to include in his program immediately. Then he starts putting it in combo, just in case. The 4Lo is the exception.

This season he more pragmatic when it came to his jumps.

Nathan has never done 4S3T but I believe it was planned in his '16 Nationals SP. However, since he turned out of the 4S he did 4T3T instead. In the FS he did 4S2T2L in addition to a solo 4S. Nathan has also landed each of 4Lz, 4F, 4S, and 4T twice in a single program.

^^yes indeed, the first person to land 4 different quads, 4LZ, 4F, 4S, 4T twice in a single program. that is another record!

^That Nathan fan blog has become quite popular. If you click on the small photo with the heading クリック応援よろしくお願いします!at the bottom of the entry you can vote for the blog to increase its popularity score. It's currently ranked #9 on the list of figure skating blogs, and I've seen it ranked as high as #6. I'm pretty sure Nathan is the only non-Japanese skater to have a blog dedicated to him on that popularity list. In fact, he has two of them (Babe Collection is also a Nathan fan blog.)

SOI Japan added an extra show to both their Osaka and Yokohama dates due to popular demand. Nathan is only doing Osaka but I'm sure that's still very good money!

Looking forward to seeing Nathan perform "Nemesis" beautifully in Milan and confirm to the world that he is indeed "Cooler than all of us!", in the wise words of Patrick Commentates Skating https://youtu.be/MpIcvytSLTc

I hope he ditches the Vera Wang jumpsuits and get back to wearing this simple yet elegantly cool black shirt. Please showcase this fabulous program to all the naysayers, Nathan!

Best wishes for a clean skate at Worlds and show them you are way more than just a Quad King, YASSS, Nathan! See you on the podium! :cheer:

I also hope that he goes back to wearing the 'simple yet elegantly cool black shirt' (great description!). I like that outfit so much more than the skeleton suit from Nationals, the other black Vera Wang suit that he wore for the Team SP, and the one-light-sleeve outfit. Hoping for a great SP and clean skates at Worlds!
lol at the Patrick commentary. Love how Nathan performed Nemesis at Skate America - so cool, confident, and with (as Johnny would say) swagger.
