Nathan Chen

I wonder if he's tried this combo? It seems like this would be easier for him to master right now than the 4-4 or 4A :D . But then again, I should never underestimate Nathan.
And supposedly Vincent is practicing 4Lz with rippon arms - wonder if Nathan would be able to pull that off - but rippon arms don't seem to be his style lol

unlikely for Nathan to do rippon or even tano. Vincent has been doing rippon since he was a baby.
Nathan's jump arm position is his unique seat-belt position, it maybe hard for him to pull up to form rippon arms. I have seen Baby Nathan do tano jumps tho, but it is kinda wonky:biggrin:

Nathan may try to do rippon arms on his -3T like Vincent is doing now, which may give him more GOE. since +3T is really a piece of case for Nathan. rippon on quads is unlikely to happen for Nathan.

One combo that would probably be easier than 4-4 is 4T-1Lo-4S. Have to calculate how that would affect BV.

in stead of arm variation to get GOE. I would like to see Nathan first to improve the quality of his quad itself to get GOE.
the flow of jumps especially his jump landing. Right now Nathan's 4lz jumps has great flow out (relatively speaking), he can do much better in his fav quad 4T and 4S.
second is to add some difficult entries to his quad jumps.
Nathan can do all sorts of crazy entries to his triple jumps. I think he maybe to able to do that for his quads jumps as well. but based on his jumping mechanic it maybe much harder, he need better flow of his quads
then he can add difficult exist to his quads, again Nathan can do all sorts of crazy exist to his triples, and this again needs better jump landing flow.

I’m one in total support of more difficult entries and exits in his quads, the triples are beautiful, power yet light and fun to watch.

One Qs - why Kolyada didn’t receive a bronze medal during the outdoor small medal ceremony?

Kudos, from me, to Italians for upping the ceremony to a more fun and youthful vibe which can attract youngsters, like many huge sports events around the globe.

idk what happened to Kolyada’s medal and didn’t even notice - only had 👀 for Nathan haha

Me too and I noticed on the fifth viewing LoL ok so I guess I wasn’t paying much attention to others FS either, another JP skater Tomono won the FS bronze so I found my answer. Thanks for playing oatmella :)

as for what I mean Raf is not accountable among other things about him that bugs me, just my personal impression of him from his various recent interviews, I have made it very clear on this thread and would not dwell on that. Again my personal opinion, I do not like him. I am a fan of Nathan, thus I will keep a open mind about Raf only because of Nathan. Move on.

Different mentality. As a European myself, I can assure you, I get him! He will not sugar coa anything Or baby any skater.

As a Chinese, we also face the reality head on, and that is how Nathan's parents survived and thrived in a foreign country. That is also Nathan's character (as he courageously demonstrated throughout this OG season) who has the Chinese blood. I know in some American culture, people tends to encourage kids (the so-called sugar coating anything or baby any skater) instead of criticize kids (the tough love).
but this is different from what bugs me about Raf. as we has discussed in this thread in details, I feel like he is a sneaky person and when bad things happened, he tends to push the blame onto others except for himself. This is a character/integrity issue and has nothing to do with whether or not sugar coating anything. This is why I do not like him.

Thanks for sharing so much about Nathan, I'm glad that every day I have more and more followers (IG 301 000 and more y more)

ETA (sorry, wrong link! changed): I found this video about the small medal ceremony: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hz9E_Mwuhw

PS: For the first time I find articles about Nathan in Spanish (my native language) which is amazing because in Latin America the majority prefers soccer, Nathan is giving new shines to artistic skating :hap93:

PS2: If the ISU changed the format of the Olympics for 2022, Nathan could get 4 Olympic medals in the same event (athletic test, artistic test, the most complete skater and team event) ... I'm only dreaming, but I would love it :luv17:

I know two girls in Mexico that love the sport due to Yuri and were fan of someone then changed to Nathan because of his style on ice and the music taste. I’m glad Donovan (though not from SA) is doing well and may he be a force (with Nathan 😄) to promote the sport in Latin America. Thanks for the link. Of course the first thing he bust out is phone...

I have a question does Olympics ranking determines the number of spots per discipline for next season or it’s a combined total of all major competitions? Thanks.

2018 words placement of skaters determing next season's spots for each Fed

In men's discipline US earned 3 spots. due to the combined result of Nathan and Max 1+ 11 = 12< 13 So we need to thanks Max for a 11th place finishing. if Max is lower than 12 No mater what Nathan do, US will still lose 3 spots. Vincent coming in as the number 2 seeded US skater only have 14th place finishing.

Thanks So Russia has 2 and JP 2?

Oops typo I mean 3 spots.

Only Romain seems to know the lyrics haha it’s too old for his age and I don’t...where have I been???
I actually look forward to the US Tour where he can just hang out with us and chill haha as if Somehow, maybe audience age group he may be a lil reserved since the Japanese women I’ve observed that travel the world for these men are mostly older where he may feel to show elderly respect? Back at San Jose maybe he has young fans/skaters, his friends and Bay Area crowd, just make sure you bring it Nathan near the happiest place on earth lol

Looks like Nathan is enjoying his time in the food capital of Japan - eat some okonomiyaki too - and pretty Sakura🌸season ... guess it’s not so bad that he didn’t have time to go home first. I’m sure he will more than hold his own among the superstars and legends of the sport - amazing cast list for the SOI Japan!
