In interviews he's said he wanted to go to Harvard, and other skaters have gone there so I could understand that. I believe Yale means he would take time off from skating.
Didn’t Nathan just say that his plan was to stay in California with Raf? I’m not surprised he got accepted to Yale - but I’d be super surprised if he actually wound up going there.
from worlds presser, Nathan said he will continue work with Raf for a couple of years, he did not specifically mention that he will stay in Cali, unless, he said that somewhere else.
I think it would be hard to work with Raf from the east coast.. I honestly think he applied to the ivy leagues on the east coast because if he had won at the Olympics, he probably would have retired and gone to school. I imagine he will be staying in California and going to school there now that he has decided to continue - but we will see.
who are the known figure skating coaches near Harvard.
Some posted before, that even in NYC, even Canadian coaches frequently come to visit and teach. so it maybe manageable.
That guy who trained Ross Miner - but think he quit - I really have no idea.
I know people who have chosen Yale over Harvard for various reasons. Not everyone wants to be in the more crazy college area of Boston/Cambridge.
Maybe he needs a bit of a break - the season ended well but the Olympic experience was very stressful. From my own experience (atypical high school experience, graduated early and deferred college for a few years), I absolutely understand the pull of a normal college campus experience being very strong.
I think attending any college is going to result in Nathan having to reduce training time - not just on ice, but I think he does hours off ice every day, as well as PT.
Offhand I can only think of Mark Mitchell, Ross's coach. These are the coaches at Boston FC

I see Maxim Naumov's parents there, too. Matt Savoie, but I don't know if he's ever coached a top level student.
If he has enough sponsorship money he might be able to fly in a coach once a month, but I think it would be hard for him to even win Nationals that way.
NYC is near Hackensack NJ where a lot of top skaters have trained but it doesn't sound like he applied to Columbia.
(if you choose to believe him)Raf said Nathan won 2018 nationals with just 3 days of training(if you choose to believe him)
But I don't think he can keep his jumps without Raf. He started losing them after just a few months with Marina.
is there a video/article that Nathan specifically talked about that. or maybe some of his competition where he lost his jumps that I would watch.
But I don't think he can keep his jumps without Raf. He started losing them after just a few months with Marina. Without Raf he could probably maintain his triples and 4T, which might be good enough to make the US team, but probably not enough to beat Vincent.
why do you think without Raf he will lose all his quads except for 4T?
Yuna perfected his triples and left BO after 2010 and just trained with his Korean coaches(humble no-body korean coaches, her first figure skating coaches) and her jumps are as lovely as ever.
isn't that Raf just said all Nathan's quad is 100% now except for 4S.
I’m in CA and UCI is considered ok - I wouldn’t say up there with UCLA or CAL though. And not really comparable to Yale/Stanford.
idk and what Yuna did was very impressive. But I think triples can’t be compared to quads - even Michelle Kwan got 3T back recently and maybe some other triples as well.
I just think that ability to teach quads is an extremely rare skill for a coach, whereas countless coaches even in small countries have students who can land triples.
