Nathan Chen

And to think there were times last year when I was practically keeping this thread alive by myself.

ETA: Looks like Nathan got another new pair of shoes.

Your posts have always been amazing! I've been reading this fan fest and Yuzu's for a long time, but I often didn't have much to say, and I was sad at how quiet Nathan's used to be. You really stayed on top of the news updates... Thanks for all your hard work.

There is some poor journalism lately in regards to Nathan’s interviews.

Plushenko was a pioneer in quads (I think, didn’t he have some crazy combos) so I’m sure Nathan looks up to that. Plus Raf has mentioned admiring longevity in the sport. And Nathan even got to hold Plushenko’s hand during bows at Legends show :D

Plushenko was indeed the one pushing the tech boundaries. He was the first to do 4-3-3 combo.

Aw, thanks! I had been following Japanese media mostly and thought it was strange that so little Nathan info was available in English in comparison. But now it appears I can now sit back and let others do the work. LOL

The article says Nathan is two-time World Champion, hehe......

She/he can foresee the next season? The recent “news” are very loosely based on facts, lots of recycled material but hey as long as he gets more exposure, it’s tolerable and we can’t worry about antis & naysayers.

After the warning, I am afraid to post on Nathan’s looks anymore lol

Thanks sheetz for keeping this thread alive for all these years before a lot of us have discovered it!

As long as it’s G rated ;) get your Britannica out

Re: Providence Journal - his bashfulness in becoming a role model is genuinely cute and being a SOI full time cast, he can bond with others, develop his performance skills, gain more media experience and grow his independence, just make sure you don’t work too hard Nathan :D

Nathan actually gets along well with many skaters and is less shy around those in the skating world than perceived here. ;)

aww her post was sweet

A mom posted on the usaskatewestminster IG that Nathan was bombarded by all the giddy girls there but he was so nice, sweet and patient with them.

This tweet from someone who saw Nathan in person:

Yeah he does seem outgoing when mingling with the skaters, guess to the “outsiders” is a different story 🤣

He comes across as pretty solid and has a good head on his shoulders even the older skaters have noted that. Yale life will be interesting as he will to be on his own and maturing as an adult.

it's always been a paradox to me, he seems so shy, yet he seems to miss public school a lot (per TSL interview and his own self-descriptions on countless nbc fluffs).

i can't help thinking he may have only a year to really experience college with fellow students close to his own age. hope it's a very rewarding year for him.

I remember those nice post. Last year was a lonely year as a Nathan fan. He quickly went from the long shot to the upstart over night. At first, no one listen when we said that Nathan could beat Javier or Yuzuru. Then when he did, it was easier to say nothing that to deal with the aftermath. Now there’s a nice friendly community here with lots of opinions and outside sources. I love hearing what Nathan’s Chinese and Japanese fans think. I love having people to lament over his hair cut and look perplexed with his new Vera Wang costumes. And this years it’s so nice to have a place to cheer his success and have people generally happy for him too. It may not have been a perfect season, but I’m super proud of what he did accomplish and now I have a bunch of Nathan fans to share it with.

Cheers to the kindest fan base I know!:hap10:

I actually don't find him that shy...it's just the mix effect of him being very cool but super nice at the same time.:luv17:
