Just want to report that I have arrived sun valley and can't wait to run into nathan. Should I try my luck at the ice cream shop?
You might not run into him there but you could others.
Even though he's my favorite skater, I think Nathan has much to learn from Denis Ten, aside from Denis's excellent posture. Truly an inpiring skater and a wrenching loss.
I think the blond haired guy is supposed to be Hanyu dressed as the main character in Fullmetal Alchemist.

... if Nathan skated in that costume I'd have palpitations. It's far from aerodynamic--definitely won't help him rotate his quads.
I'd rather see him skating with freedom in H&M black shirt and Nike pants, if I can't have Black Shirt the 2nd (Nemesis Black Shirt reborn).

I won't disagree that he looks hot. :luv17: He can *pose* in it. Then he needs to lose the trench coat and the gloves so I can see something more beautiful than all that fluttery clutter.
(actually just cancel the whole cosplay and gimme the H&M shirt and black pants, no gloves, please).
IMO, I think (as of right now) it's not unlikely. His greatest strengths in interpreting music and choreography all mesh very well with classical music. I'm not saying that Nathan will play it safe with choreography or music choice (quite the opposite), but that he will choose music that showcases his greatest strengths and in a genre that he's already quite comfortable performing. He must be aware that we all #stan his Chopin long program, so piano seems slightly more likely (Liszt pls). And the FS is what determines the "winner" in the public's eyes because it's the latter half of the competition.
On the other hand, it's kind of hard to imagine right now, but by the next Olympics the Nathan there will have been another four years of artistic development. He will be miles more mature and have experience in a ton of different genres by 2022, and we could totally be having a different conversation then.
(Another personal wish: I want Nathan to do hard rock at the Olympics. Wild curly hair, all black ensemble, IDGAF attitude, AC/DC's "Back in Black"... yes please!)
Thank you for your thoughts on Chopin LP and why fans speculate on a classical LP for 2022 season. Since classical music showcases his strengths, I think this past season was the time to use such an LP. Even more reason to respect his boldness in choosing Mao's Last Dancer, which is in the classical vein but doesn't *assist* the skater like many of the classical warhorses do.
I love your hard rock concept, just not that particular song. For some reason hard rock strikes me as less avant-garde than Nemesis?
But thank you for giving us such a vivid, intriguing picture. And it's nice to think that Nathan will be much more mature and will have tried many more genres by then.

Just a feeling I have - I think Nathan did want a classical FS for last season, but Lori convinced him on MLD. I could see him doing more modern programs for the next few seasons - but hopefully we will see another classical program from him towards the end of this Olympic cycle
Not sure if we will be seeing hard rock from Nathan - his rock program No Good didn’t seem to be one of his favorites. But at least another reason for an all-black costume
Kinda random - but I was watching this vlog and the pianist was practicing Ballade 1 and ‘had an epiphany about how it’s similar in feeling to Chopin’s 1st Concerto’.
