Nathan Chen

It's so sweet of that fan to think of how Nathan might be lonely at college without Bolt and his family. It must have been a lot of work to create so many cute kewpies.

Huge thanks also to the fan who made the little thumb sized Nathan in the different costumes. Rikkobe-san of the kitty video fame made beautiful gifts as well.

There are many other fans who've made wonderful gifts for him. I can barely figure out the internet with google translate, so this is by no means a complete list.

Nathan's lucky to have so many talented, generous fans! :ghug:

Thank you for summarizing everything, sheetz. But for these broadcasts of The Ice, it will be footage we've already seen before for Nathan, right? They won't air a different performance of Land of All or Caravan? Do you think the one on 9/1 might?

Most likely nothing new but you never know. I assume they will eventually be showing all the other skaters as well as Mao's appearance and the jump contest but perhaps they will save those for the "special edition" program.

Nathan's at the Tokyo airport, per his IGS.

@mamamiia, Dave made clarification in the latest TSL video you are not the one who is screaming lol. It is at around 44’ if you want to listen to it.

They briefly talked about Nathan’s programs. Both programs are well liked, especially one spin in Caravan. David concluded Nathan looks like the coolest kid in cafeteria, too cool for anyone but still accessible while Jonathan commented if anyone can do it (school and competing), it is Nathan.

Apparently they don’t know Raf was invited to Japan by the show organizer lol

‘He looks like the coolest kid in the cafeteria - he’s too ******* cool for anyone at this point’ - lol

What is this kid doing? Will someone out there bubble wrap this boy so he would come back fit and healthy? Nathan, please don’t give Raf more headache!

The twitter video for some reasons all looked kinda blurry for a few seconds in the middle compared with the IG story.

That cat fan video is just hilarious to watch. It is great the cat owner captured that fun moment :)

BTW, the followers have gone up back to 304k from 303k this week.

Speak of Boyang, Alice liked Boyang’s post. Hope some of his fans, tho just a few won’t be that hostile to Nathan from now on. After all, Nathan has been very friendly and always talked about what kind of inspiration Boyang is, and the two boys seemed to have lots of fun when they are together.

 Thank you for always being in the loop and keeping us informed.

*sigh* He really does forget that some of his fans aren't spring chickens. He's probably not helping his Mom sleep better at night--thinking about her youngest at college, being coached by Raf remotely, whether Nathan's adhering to the jump limits that Raf has set for him in terms of how many quad repetitions per day, getting enough sleep...

As for other skaters' fans and their hostility toward Nathan, what can you do? Hanyu and Fernandez could not be better friends and there was plenty of unhappiness when Fernandez won Worlds in Boston, IIRC. I don't think Boyang being Nathan's friend would make much difference to fans.

I do think if it were Nathan's Mom or one of his fluent in Mandarin siblings who had accompanied him, his family could maybe chat up Boyang's family and facilitate the guys' communication and encourage Nathan to speak some Mandarin. I'm fairly sure he understands a good bit, even if he may lack confidence *speaking* it outside his family. It might even help him with Yale's foreign language requirement.

Speaking of IG likes, I saw a Japanese fan posting that SPUR (the magazine that previously interviewed him, I presume?) liked several Nathan pictures that were posted on Alice's IG. Is there some speculation that a magazine article may have had something to do with his coming to Tokyo? If there really is a magazine article, I'm sure sheetz will tell us. :)

Actually for Nathan and Boyang to communicate all it would take is for Boyang to understand enough of Nathan's English and Nathan to understand enough of Boyang's Mandarin. Then they could communicate with each other using their natives tongues like many immigrant parents do with their English speaking children.

People are hoping he was in Tokyo for some kind of interview. I know some commented that he recently started following Tokyo based artist Lauren Tsai.

From Lauren’s stories, she was also at teamLab Planets around when Nathan was there. Maybe they met/met up there?

She was on a season of Terrace House!

And did an interview with hypebeast.com

Very true, what you said about Nathan and Boyang communicating.

So glad you're both here to keep us all informed. :)

Thanks for sharing the videos, photos and all the multimedia (although you follow several accounts there is always new material) :thank:

Both programs have improved in a very short time, I got the impression that the audience applauded during the whole Caravan presentation (I really love it) :hap36:

My best wishes to Nathan at Yale (the wait to see him compete will be eternal but the good is expected)

:cheer:
