Nathan Chen

We were hoping for 3 or at least 2 weeks of training with RAF before worlds, and here we go. Again, good luck Nathan!:)

It’s nice that Nathan is appreciating both ancient and modern art, but ...

I hope he goes back home to train with Raf very soon!!

If he’s not in a hurry it means he’s feeling good about his condition and there isn’t much to concern about in terms of training. We haven’t heard much from him since Nationals so he obviously doesn’t want us to know too much, just trust him.

I guess in terms of school, easier to take off the week after Worlds - as this week was midterms. Though Friday was the last day for exams.

Maybe he’s obligated to perform at SOI, that could have been the case at Japan Open as well ?

Perhaps he’s been able to maintain his Nationals form plus possibly more confident in his 4S, so he doesn’t feel an urgent need to rush home to train with Raf - and can enjoy a visit to the art gallery even with SP only 10 days away:p

Just trust him guys lol, it’ll be alright

I’m willing to bet he’ll either go to Montreal for a touch up for a day or so and meet up with team Raf early in Japan OR he’ll just go straight to Japan from Yale meet up with team Raf even earlier. Either way, it’s planned out. This is good, means he’s not stressed. Plus he’s healthy and that’s most important.

Nathan and the team know what he needs and have a plan in place. Don't worry about him, it will be alright.

I don't think he normally skates on Sundays, right? I think he'll probably by flying out today.

Speaking of SOI, I would rather see him at WTT.

I would much rather he skip WTT. That way he can be done with this season's programs and get a head start on the new ones.

Nathan’s seemingly more relaxed attitude has to be a good sign then!

Don’t think he will be working on any new programs until the school year is over though.

I too would prefer if he did WTT. Kinda hoping that in such a lower pressure competition he'd be less cautious and restrained, giving us a better performance of both of his programs, maybe he would also go for a less ambitious layout the way he did in 2017.

Although I do suspect that he will use Caravan in those shows that he's scheduled to appear in, so there would be more of a focus on the performance too, but I'm not sure if there will be broadcasts on tv , plus, there's a different vibe in actual competitition and I prefer the lighting too.

As mentioned above, he might not shelve Caravan so quickly anyway, because he will probably use it in shows.

And WTT is just 3 weeks after worlds, he's not gonna get new programs this early anyway.
If last year is any indication, he may even wait longer than most other skaters again. Granted, he was busy with all those shows that he did during the summer, so it might be different this year.

But I think he'll probably perform a new EX program for US SOI along with Caravan. Even if he has to choreograph it himself. He can get his competitive programs choreographed later.

Yeah I agree, I don't see him repeating BFTE again. I wish he would get a new interesting ex program from a great choreographer, but I'm pretty sure he will just pick a new song that he likes and rehash his BFTE choreo stylewise. :(

More than likely since Nathan is only doing select shows on SOI, he will probably do Caravan and No Good, since he hasn't skated that on the tour yet.

He may get a new program for the show, but that's yet to be seen.

Nathan did BFTE for last year’s SOI. He’s probably performed it like 40 times now:)

Maybe he’ll debut a new self-choreographed program at Japan SOI like he did last year.

I knew that and meant No Good. I fixed my post to reflect it.
