How about Marina Zueva? I think they were really worked well. For me, le corsaire is still my favorite Nathan’s program! :luv17:

Love Le Corsaire:luv17:

I thought it was interesting that at first she didn’t even know he had a ballet background, she wanted to create a program for him that was different than what others were doing.

I'm also strongly pro Nichol as his second choreographer besides Shae-Lynn. Or Dickson, just to see what he would do with Nathan, but I prefer Nichol (love MLD in its original form).

Not really a fan of Buttle's work, altough it depends strongly on the skater too, so maybe Nathan could interpret his choreo in a really cool way, so who knows.

I wonder if Nathan has avoided Marina because she would not put up with the understated costumes.

He doesn't seem very interested in a classical/ballet program right now, so I expect his second choice in choreographer to reflect that. I think in Shae, Nathan has found a choreographer who understands him and is willing to push him.

I would like to see a great long program next year. Nathan's short programs the last few years could all arguably be his signature programs, but the longs haven't had the same something special.

haha, I am not a fan of his costumes this season either. However, I do like last season's, especially in the Olympics and WC. They kind of showed off his sharp lines and good body proportion. I hope Vera Wang can come up a better design for the next season, provided if she's still going to do it for Nathan.

I think the new Vera costumes reveal at Nationals will continue for the rest of his skating career.

While I appreciate that these designs are comfortable for Nathan, they just seem too much of the same. All of them (including orange, which really resembles a cycling jersey) except for MLD with the white collar detail, have the same or very similar neckline. I don’t know if that’s at his request, as his costumes from his baby days also had a similar neckline. Similar looking fit and fabric. Same slightly-too long sleeves (and he wanted shorter sleeves for Caravan). Same pants for all - guess this is ok though since the fit is amazing.

Don’t think Vera cares that the costumes relate to the programs at all. It appears that she has a very specific personal aesthetic herself, which can been seen in her designs for him.

Nathan can look good wearing pretty much anything - so while he looks very nice - creativity seems a bit lacking.

I guess it could be worse - look at her current S/S collection - with Elizabethan-inspired ruffled collars :p

Didn't Tom Dickson choreograph Yuna Kim's El Tango de Roxane SP? Oh my gosh, it was her best program (short/long) ever, IMO! Nate, oh please, dear, a tango free skate choreographed by Tom Dickson! Scratch my original suggestion. I just want Tango Nathan to happen (in case y'all couldn't tell).

After the Marina drama I doubt he'll be going to her again. And there was a Japanese interview where Nathan said he had some creative differences with Lori so he'll probably not be be going to her either.

I'm actually ok with LoA and I think it's great he's had the opportunity to do some training at Gadbois. I'd be fine with him doing that again for one more season if he remains at Yale. He can find someone closer to the West Coast after he moves back.

To be honest, I don't like any of the men's (single) costumes in particular this season. No one really stands out for me. Granted, I am no fashion expert myself, so I applaud to the designers who can come up with new designs year after year. Thank God, I don't have to do that. I do agree that modern and simplicity suit Nathan's personality and style on ice. I will be excited to see when he debuts his new costume.

Nathan really said he had creative differences with Lori? I’m surprised - not that it wouldn’t be possible - but he is always so diplomatic.

I agree that training at Gadbois was a great opportunity, despite my reservations about him working with Marie-France and Sam again.

I think it’s actually better if he doesn’t necessarily choose his own music for (competitive)programs - looking at his self-choreo, it seems that he has a certain comfort zone when it comes to selecting music. I love Next To Me though:luv17:

Kudos to you, oatmella for speaking up about choosing his own music. He has so much potential and needs to be guided and pushed. Regardless if it is true he has differences with Lori, I would like him to work with different choreograhers. Costumes wise, I have no expectations. His training gears would work better than his costumes this season. I actually missed the costumes when he debuted both programs at Sun Valley, maybe I am just emotionally attached to the sp costume or something. I hope he would have his costume ready early in the season.

Just curious, sheetz do you have a link to that interview?

He probably left very good impression on Jack Gallagher. Suddenly he wrote so much about Nathan, or maybe it is just because both competitions are in Japan. And did he post a great Nathan training picture after he saw some grainy one on Twitter?

Jackie is definitely missed.

oatmella, you are supposed to use double emojis ;) ;)

I am ok with the shirt+vest design but not that shirt. All his shirts except the black nemesis one are ill fitted. Sorry Nathan :(.

Actually makes sense to me he'd say that, I didn't think he clicked very well with Lori at all like she does with some people and like he does with Shae.

As for music, I think maybe it should be something he has some input in at least. Or at least, just not doing something he doesn't really want to do. Though I'd mostly stick with the pros opinions there.

I love LoA more than MLD as well. Like Johnny said, I feel the spiritual connection

And burn and shirt and the vest. It was awful.

Yes please. It's an outfit that in theory should work really well with the character of the program, but the fit of it is so bad and ruins his lines in a way, that I literally hated Caravan and only started enjoying it once he put on the Vera penguin costume.

I guess I’m surprised and not surprised about Lori. A bit conflicted. Thought his original interpretation was so mature and well conceived that it’s hard to believe he didn’t actually understand or agree with the vision and intention that Lori had for that program. But then not so surprised because he quickly lost it later on. Makes me a bit sad though because I really did think it had both the depth and imagination to be a masterpiece.

Also when will someone finally step in and tell Nathan all his collared shirts are ill fitted at the shoulders and make him super hunchy? I wonder if he ever watches his own video and notices how bad it makes his form look? His posture is like like night and day between a well fitted costume (eg penguin SP) and ill fitted ones. Please Nathan, I know you prefer simple, but finding a shirt that fits and shows your actual form is the least you can do. Can’t Raf say something?

I couldn't figure out why he looked so much better to me at Nats. Finally realized it was because the Vera costume looked so much better than the shirt and vest. His lines and movements in general looked so much better with Vera.
