Nathan Chen

Nathan skating to Taylor Swift in the opening - You Need To Calm Down

He looked amazing:luv17:

That lutz kick has really become his signature, and I think that was the best one yet.

He has lost a noticeable amount of weight since All That Skate.

Wow, his performance ability has improved even more. The first step sequence has always seemed a little boring in the past, but this performance it has started to come alive in a way it never did in the past. I think it could be even more emotional, but the amount of improvement is amazing. I'm looking forward to see what his programs are this year.

IMO this is the best Land of All performance ever. His movement really came together with the music, and there was a certain tension maintained throughout, the dreamy and wandering part leading up really well to the intense, hip-hop/fighting part. The jumps and spins no longer appeared as technical elements (though they were executed excellently) but served the development of the program. I thought he would be exhausted from all these travels and shows, but boy he did wonders :)

More photos. Glad Mom made the trip to Japan!

LoA is very tough music to skate to and I think what we saw was the result of his continued emotional and physical maturing over the past season. It would also be interesting to see him revisit Mao's Last Dancer some time in the future.

Seems he's lost all the post Worlds weight. The 540 was so light and springy.

Still can't see any weight gain/loss over the months, especially not with the varying clothes/costumes. :confused2:
Why 540 though? It's a 360 degree jump. :p

[So Vincent got a perm and is wearing jean jackets now?]

... :slink:

He talks WAY too fast, and out of courtesy to the translator, it would be nice if he would slow down a little bit. I am a native speaker and have listened to him several times where I honestly can't tell what he's saying.

I get that complaint a lot too, but it's actually not that easy to slow down when you're used to talking fast. It's a bad habit like biting your nails or something and you can't just stop doing it. Especially when it's in a setting such as an interview or speaking in front of an audience, and you're a bit nervous, even if just a little, which already results in speaking a bit faster than usual. So I can totally empathise with Nathan. ;)

Did Vincent get the same cream jean jacket as Nathan? Looks very similar, at least. I think he has gotten perm(s) before, though.

I think the 540 came from Nathan fan Yamazaki21 comparing his lutz kick to the ballet jump cabriole revoltade. I think Nathan’s is closer to 360 though.
