Nathan Chen

Uh-oh, didn't he use the same or a similar joke already in the past when talking about his airpods, talking of fallen soldiers, and received loads of complaints and critique for that...? :scard7:

Really? That's such an innocuous joke I can't imagine getting peeved at that :drama:

Well, last year there was this: https://imgur.com/a/AKpJH04
followed by this: https://imgur.com/a/wXQQ3aC

(tbh, I don't even understand the 'joke')

oh, I think he was ridiculed/made fun of about his use of "ya'll" in his first IGS. He changed to "y'all", in the following IGS. It is not about the fallen soldiers

oatmella might have better explanations for this . Here is some explanation.

https://writingexplained.org/yall-or-ya-ll-difference
As we stated in the above section, y’all is a contraction of the words you-all. The apostrophe stands in place for the second and third letters of “you.” Ya’ll, therefore, is a misspelling and should be avoided in writing.
Not only is y’all the logical spelling, but also it is the overwhelmingly preferred spelling by writers, editors, publishers, etc. Garner’s Modern American Usage Dictionary estimates that y’all appears in print ten times more than does ya’ll.

The Fam reunited on Romain's IGS!

The whole "Y'all" thing was about nothing. He just misspelled it and immediately corrected himself because he's so persnickety about those things. Maybe somebody like Karen would tease him about it but literally nobody else.

Ah I see, that's why there was an asterisk on that 'Y'all'.
I thought some overly sensitive people felt offended by that soldiers remark, but this makes even less sense to me, that people would be complaining about his orthography, lol. I totally get his indignation here.

(but seriously, I still don't get that soldiers joke... :scratch2:)

I don't think he's persnickety at all, not in the slightest. There are always spelling/grammar mistakes or typos in his IG stories or captions underneath his IG posts. And he said that people were booing him because of that mistake on 'Y'all', so obviously he got several reactions. ;)

His Yale friends made fun of him all the time, no biggie. He must be in good mood or in the mood of posting that day . He had other spelling errors in some of his IG stories, and he simply deleted those without posting again. Oh well, there might be other reasons he deleted those without reposting.

Transcription of his Ice Talk interview. Lots of lots of information in this interview. Kudos to the person who did the hard work of transcription

Thread about his programs this season
https://twitter.com/nathanchen_us/status/1189625764821385216?s=20

He finally talked about he was really sick the beginning of last season. Too bad he was sick again. He looked sick in that interview with Meryl, and he sounded sick in the interview with Jackie. I guess both interviews were conducted after the free skate. Let’s hope it was not as serious and long lasting as last season :pray:

Hope reuniting with the fam would make the jet lag and recovery little bit easier on him.

Loved Jackie's interview, he asked some really interesting questions and he got great, genuine and very insightful answers from Nathan! (can he please do all of Nathan's interviews from now on...) And Nathan's so open and without any pretense in that interview, really love that about him.

Those comments he gets about his programs and such... I wonder where Nathan hears/reads those and who's making those comments?
Also lol, I think he should do an opera themed program next season just out of spite now! (jk, please no)

I like that Nemesis is the one program, that he feels is the most quintessential Nathan. :luv17:
Because I agree and it was the program that caught my attention and felt really special and made me his fan, so his pick is like a nice acknowledgement of that.

Also, can I say... the way he speaks and his voice totally remind me of Daniel Radcliffe! (who's also a fast speaker, btw!)

And review of Rocketman
http://www.absoluteskating.com/index.php?cat=reports&id=2019japanopen-report

Nathan's Rocketman was all excitement, and he moved enthusiastically across the ice and involved the audience. Above all else, his choreo-sequence was excellent! The whole venue was with him as he turned the ice into a hip-hop dance floor, and later said that part had been choreographed by a hip-hop dancer. Nathan felt like it didn't make sense at first, but then he practiced the moves on the floor and got the feeling, so when he came back on the ice he felt totally comfortable. He seemed like a real dancer and it was definitely the highlight of this event.

Very clever! Looks like our Nate is prepping for a 4Lz 4F SP again and is slowly building up the difficulty! This is a great idea, practicing the 4F in the SP without the 4Lz so he can focus solely on the flip that stress himself out doing both. He’s also switched the Lutz in for the Flip in his FS to practice the lutz combo sp he doesn’t stress out about the flip.

Ugh. Hadn't missed 3A this week. Feels like GPF last year when he was killing it in practice but nervous mistakes in the competition.
