I’m just returning to figure skating after a long hiatus. I plan to enroll in LTS classes soon and I will likely be placed in adult level 4 or 5.

I’m female, 61, 5’4” and weigh 70kg.

My foot shape is Egyptian and I have wide flat feet.

My larger foot measures 241mm and width is also 241mm.

I currently have a 10 year old set of Gams Concepts which are too large (size 8) and too narrow.

I do plan to meet with a fitter but would like to have some idea of which skates might be a better fit for me. I do not plan to advance beyond single jumps and am more interested in ice dancing as I progress.

If anyone can recommend a good fitter near Raleigh, NC I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Have you contacted the Triangle Figure Skating Club in Raleigh to see if they can recommend anyone?

Here are a list of coaches in the area that you also might try and contact:

No, I’m just getting started. I didn’t know there was a local skating club. I’ll check with them.

Thanks

I was hoping someone could recommend skates for me to consider based on the info in my first post.

Thanks

Hi and welcome. In your area: Try Pro Skate Balance in Morrisville, ask for an appointment with Andy.

I'm sitting here confused with your description of your foot, b/c if they are Egyptian they would not be wide and flat. Egyptian style feet are more narrow. Wide and flat would be more African or Mongolian style foot.

I would suggest Jackson or Graf boots to you. Jackson Synergy Ignite or Supreme 5300. Graf Richmond Special.

You will need blades to go with. Traditional/Standard MK Pro or John Wilson Coronation Ace.

Good luck!
