Hey Piel my fellow Luging Diva. ;) Is there a category for folks like me who appreciated the skating of Hughes I, appreciates Hughes II, appreciates MK, appreciates that the bye process rules are appropriate, and that MK qualifies, and trusts team MK and the USFSA officials to do the right thing?

I think my category is far more boring though....

OMG DG I hate to break it to you but I think by all of the evidence you have offered that you are a (and I will try to say this gently)....... a true figure skating fan.

AFAIK, these contracts signed WAY Before her injuries. The coca cola ones signed around time Emmy rewards recieption night. Visa even before this. East West Bank even before that, the money provided by East West Bank was used for the funding of EWIP opening. It was just they announcement(coca cola) was late.

This post is not against Michelle and her bye for the Olympics. This is about Corporate America and money that they will gain in this process. They want the one that is the most marketable and bring in the big bucks. They do not care as long as Michelle goes to the Olympics, injured or not. I hope that she makes the right decision with whatever she decides to do. Good luck to Michelle and all the skaters:)

Good luck to the "Luging Divas":chorus: :chorus:. How come we haven't got a sponsor yet? With our ponytails, I think that we can be very marketable.

Do you mean GS isn't sponsoring us? My agent, Mathman 44.4%, will take care of it, never fear! Hey MM, who is sponsoring the "Luging Divas"
:chorus: :chorus: :chorus: .....or as my Mother calls us "The Delusional Diva's" (wonder what she means by that?   )?

Isn't that the deLUGEnal (TM) Divas? Piel, your Mom is brilliant! I nominate her as head of the Marketing Team.

Yeah Mathman.....are the sponsorship contracts in the mail yet? We would hate for GS to miss out on this glorious opportunity.

It's ok that they lighten up for these Olys. It's less work for me.

That's very true, too. Lots of "uptightness" going on this Oly year where people are too caught up and absorbed in their favorites.

How about one standing on his head kicking his feet in the air?

I will need to give Mr. Doggy a bit of time, and possibly a couple of favors before I ask him to do this in the head stand position. ;)

If it were figure skating, I'd say not much since they like the dollars so very much, but I'm sure lugers are a bit more respectable!

But Kwanford, aren't you in favor of a "meritocracy" (government by the Superior People)? Let's see, there's me, you, Piel .... yeah, I'm totally there.

Absolutely Not!!! I'm for a Kwanocracy... All hail the Kwan, Keeper of the Light!

Ahh... What a Kwanderful world it would be...

(uh oh! its olympic season... I feel my inner uber kicking in... I've been fighting it all season... )

Go Kwan!:chorus: :chorus: :chorus:

That's because most of the time, 4CC is held in Asia and the long trip right after Nationals is too exhausting for the top skaters who are going to Worlds.

In this case, 4CC is being held in the US, a short hop for the US skaters. Emily has ZERO Senior International Championship experience, and her appearance at 4CC should be very helpful to her in preparation for either Torino or Worlds. Her refusal to go indicates her fear that she will not perform well in comparison to Michelle's test skate (which will, ironically, happen simultaneously). It doesn't say much about her self-confidence, that's for sure.

I don't think so. She has already competed in a number of GP events and she had a late start on training b/c of her illness. Plus she is "on call" in case Michelle is not healthy enough to compete. Had Michelle competed in Nationals and won her spot, Emily most likely would have competed in 4Cs. Since this is not the case, and since Emily will be competing worlds, most likely she is training her a$$ off so she can win a Worlds medal and shut the haters up. She's a Hughes and they are competitive. No doubt she wants to improve upon her performance at Nats and probably wants to have a better skate than Kwan will at the Olympics.

As long as it wasn't Drug Money, I bet we're still OK.

Emily could train night and day from now til Worlds and she would not come close to winning a World medal. Did you see her GP events? She is a chronic underrotater and she comes down so hard on her jumps she gets no flowout. That's part of the reason why the ISU judges give her PCS scores in the 5s. It is her bad habit of underrotating that causes her to fall on jumps. She fell three times in each of her GP events.

Skate better than Kwan? In her dreams. Emily is lucky that Katy Taylor didn't have a better SP and didn't skate in last group, or she would have beaten Emily in the FS and won the bronze medal. Compared to Katy, Emily is a bonafide klutz.

Just read the article in question.....fairness requires me to ask you to actually LIST the inaccuracies in the article.

Sorry easygoer but I dont like to get involved in round and round arguments on the forum (though I assure you that if you are looking for a sparing partner you will be able to find one). I was just stating my opinion that the article is not very well written, and contained factual error/s.

Welcome to the board.
