New Format for Dancing With the Stars

Could've also meant Jayne Torvill....

I'm shocked, but I'm using up all my votes on Jane and Tony so I can't say I'm sorry, either...

I can't believe the results. Samantha was my fav and the best talent female talent the show has had in a few years. Too bad. Takes the fun out of watching any more this season...........42

You can't have loved her too much if you don't know that her name is Sabrina.

This show is now officially a joke.
Makes The Bachelor look downright 'realistic' by comparison.
Sabrina was far and away the best dancer of the bunch, eliminating her and keeping Marie Osmond, who is useless, is just plain dumb.
I hope the Osmond lady wins.
Maybe then someone in America will wake up to what crap they're watching.

The biggest problems is the voters. Most of those are teenagers and really don't know anything but who their favorites are. They don't care whether they can dance, and mostly, don't even know what good dancing is. That is why it is so frustrating. Sabrina was the best dancer they had. I wanted it to be Jane or Marie but it isn't.

I thought maybe Sabrina wanted out because of her hectic schedule. I just wonder now if she really had the least votes. A little too much drama.

Sabrina Bryan is an ambitious 23-year-old who has seen what this show has done for other people's careers. There is no way she wanted off. If that's not reason enough, I think it's a pretty realistic guess she's dating her dance partner.

Actually, I thought Sabrina was too athletic for ballroom dancing. Her Foxtrot was not that well executed. She thought she had to "attack" every dance and was leading her partner. Oh well, all the best to her.

Sorry for the error Pixie. I was thinking of the female host Samantha. It didn't in the least take away my admiration for Sabrina that I fumbled her name......:p 42

Isn't that partly the blame of her pro who is supposed to be instructing her and in charge of the choreographer.

I just thought her foxtrot was her worst dance, but she did really well at the others - especially in comparison to several of the other dancers. For this week, Jane S and Marie really had the poorest performances. Jane was too stiff in hers and Marie's was too stiff for her personality. Both were totally blah to watch this week.

Definitely shouldn't have gone before Cameron or Jennie. Or Marie, come to that. (I reserve judgement on Jane. But I freely admit I'm voting for the pros, really, and Tony can still blow Mark off the floor.) I would have given her at least one more Smooth/Standard dance to see if she really can't hack it outside Latin (and her Latin did have technical problems, too).

And while yes, it's Mark's job to teach her the dance, he's trying to do in a week what most pros in pro/am have months or years to do. And there is only so much he can do in the performance--he can TRY to hold her back from trying to charge out or "lead" him, but he can only go so far without trashing the whole performance.

Another show done, and I'm going to rant about how DONE I AM WITH JENNIE GARTH. I think Derek Hough is adorable. At first, I thought the producers were giving her lines. Now I realize it's her personality. Enough! Go home and be the unsexy mommy you want to be. Such a beautiful woman with such insecurities, and apparently such lack of acting chops. Can't she create a character who wants to dance a rumba with a hot young guy? He's 22, not 12. Her total stage fright is over and done. Go home.

So Pixie Cut, do you think it's Jennie tonight??

Sadly no. My guess is she'll be safe -- not even in the bottom two. I have a strong feeling that Jane Seymour will be the one going. The judges criticize her for not being dazzling enough, but they praise Jennie Garth when she stumbles over her feet, seems to forget the choreography and looks MISERABLE. I'd sooner watch Wayne Newton, at least he stomped around with a big smile on his face. I don't think I've found any celebrity in the show's run as unpleasant as I find Garth -- simply because she looks like she's suffering through every moment. She's worse than Sara Evans and, although she dances much, much better than Leeza Gibbons, she seems to hate every minute of it. Blech!

I agree that the voting public is teenage girls, but I also think the network has the say in who goes and who stays for ratings purposes.

I don't think Marie is a popular American (Mormons are generally overlooked).

I do think Sabrina was/is the best dancer, and I believe there is more to her elmination than meets the eye.

Both Jane and Marie will leave momentarily - this week and next. However, suspense must be created for the ratings. Who will be the final two?

Joe

I think the largest demographic for DWTS could be women in their 50's and older. My mom and all of her friends watch since they all enjoy dancing and know how to dance these styles. With the exception of one star per season, the stars skew to older people (25+) in general.

BTW, Marie's father passed away today at the age of 90. I'm guessing that she won't be appearing on tonight's results show.

Maria has many fans who grew up during the 70's. She also has her own line of collectable dolls, which is very successful. The Osmond family has a theater in Branson, MO where they are continually performing. So, Marie might not be popular with the teens, but there are Osmond fans out there to support her.

It's been discussed elsewhere that Sabrina Bryan's fan base doesn't watch Dancing with the Stars. The people who watch and vote are mid 30s and up.

When they were giving their condolences to Marie and the family, they announced she's safe.
