Notte Stellata | Mar 7-9, 2025

As one of those 'life is stranger' moments, following Yuzuru's wonderful collaboration with Mansai Nomura on the latter's iconic Bolero, it's been noted that yesterday, 7 March was not only NS's opening but the 150th anniversary of Maurice Ravel's birth...

They are amazing and so was he - during the two collaboration numbers ever through the screen we could feel the electric atmosphere, what must it have been like to be there???

And this ! They both look like flying!
Someone even compared Yuzu's jump in the air to that of Nizynski!

Is it surprising? The original Bolero choreography was by Nijinsky's sister; and Yuzuru Hanyu's Origin 2 costume was inspired by a costume of Nijinsky's (because this program was a tribute to a program of Evgeny Plushenko, itself a tribute to Nijinsky).

Here's a report by SPCOM, relating particularly Towa 2025 Notte Stellata to Challenge, the one-off ice show for the reconstruction of Noto Peninsula, and the News Every report on the Wajima morning market:

Here's the article:

This picture is yet another stunning, almost work of art level one... (almost?) The Japanese photographers have done the show proud...

In the special post-show interview Yuzuru praised and thanked his friends - fellow skaters for taking part in the Notte Stellata show which has so special meaning to him as the anniversary of the earthquake is still very emotional and difficult for him, no matter the passage of time.

:thank::thank::thank::thank::thank:

And here's a fragment of the amazing performance by Violetta Afanasieva with hoops and other props !
I still remember how excited and surprised she was when Yuzu first invited her to join the Notte Stellata cast - they never met, she was not even aware he had ever seen her performing in Canada, so it came as quite a surprise! She took part in all the shows since then and has become a steady and loved member of the cast with many people specifically looking forward to see her as her programs are so different from everything else you can normally see on the ice!

She's wonderful! I hadn't heard of her before NS, but her performances are a highlight of NS for me...
