Stupid question alert.......When did they stop having a qualifying round?

Per Wikipedia:

"Because of the large number of entries at the World Championships, for some years the event included qualifying rounds for men and ladies. After the 2006 championships in Calgary, Canada, the ISU Congress voted to eliminate the qualifying round. It was later reintroduced and then eliminated again after the 2012 World Championships."

Plus the minimum TES requirements as the preliminary qualifying.

so glad Elizabet did well!!! and sounds like Ivett too, doing couple 3T3T all clean :yahoo:!!

I guess because Shibutanis are skating first in the last group - before C/B, W/P, C/L and P/C. They can get the levels, but judges will most likely be a bit reserved on the PCS, saving the higher marks for others.

Not True.......The judges ( In my experience ) are trained to know that ANY team in the final group is seeded there for a reason. The Shibs have a wonderful opportunity to lay it down and shut the door on their opponents. A standing ovation is not out of the question they way they've been skating lately. Add that to being the darlings of the home crowd and it wouldn't surprise me to see them at, or near the top, going into their hugely popular free dance.

Went out to the loo, stopped to look at the skater cards at the Edea stall, finished browsing, turned around and practically right behind me were Adam Rippon and Max Aaron in USA jackets. I womanfully kept in my squeak. Lol

So I guess since Zavosin and Buyanova are sitting a couple of rows behind me means that at least Kovtun will show up to practice this evening? ;)

Rippon being asked for pics with fans blocking my view from taking long range pics :ohwell:

Got a pic of Zavosin and Buyanova!!! And Chris Reed, Tom Z./Mirai, and Tammy Gambill!!!
