On Site Reports @ Worlds 2016

Well. That's better than falling but, that thing's gonna get dinged. It's clearly not fully around. In any case, if he does the rest of the program cleanly, I could see him finishing in the 5. Fortunately, he has so many good qualities in his skating that if he can stay on his feet during that Lutz, I think he'll be rewarded. Can you imagine the crowd response if he lands that Lutz at Worlds.

This is the same lutz rockerskating posted in slow motion, which, while perhaps right on the cusp, I'd say is clearly fully rotated. Hope he'd be given the benefit of the doubt if he did that in competition, but from what he has told the press he lands them like this in practice frequently anyway, so it may be no reason to get hopes up. Besides, I also wonder what would happen with the rest of his program if he did land it cleanly. Looking back at major jump firsts it seems a fairly common occurrence for skaters to lose focus and make mistakes on subsequent jumps. I just think it's an amazing feat one way or the other.

How is it going? icedancedotcom mentioned there have been a lot of shaky moments?

I'm just a casual fan of Dance. Only went to see P/O and Sinkats then left the next 2 groups for food :slink:

ETA: Nikita twizzles looked better. Got the only one they did on video but from my angle, it was as good as its going to get.

ETA: breakfast at the Thinking Cup is pretty good if anyone wants to walk to the North End.

Han: condition good, looked happy. Fan girls went crazy for him. spending long time autograph and selfie with fans.
SoYoun: condition not good.
Patrick: condition not so good, looked intense.
Gracie: condition good
zijun: condition normal, spend long time sign and photo with fans
Sui/Han: looked serious, 4S attempted a few, landed 1.
wang/wang: pretty cute, light hearted.
zhang/peng: condition good
Japanese skaters all look strong(will have tons of repo about them I believe.)
dance:
W/P lift problem
P/C twizzle problem
other big names ice dancers looked strong

edit: anecdote about Han, spins improved faster, but he sat down on one of his spin last position. kinda funny and cute. :p

edit: Han also interacts very well with other skaters on and off ice. seems a very social guy. high five(sorta) with another skater (whom I dont know name) when he stepped onto ice. all very cute.

forget Denis... condition better than I thought, 4S landed but 2 footed.
forget Javi.... charismatic practise session, fans love it.
forget Boyang... .... looked serious....., tried many 4T, 4lz tried just a couple, not prefect consistent(he can land 9 4LZ out of 10 according to previous repo, but not this time), also he can hit music note very precisely.

Thanks for the reports, especially about Han. I want him to do well this time.

Well I hope everyone who'll be seeing the SD and men's SP today at TD Garden have a fabulous time! I don't even know if I'll be able to keep up on the live results due to me needing to do a lab report that's due tomorrow that I haven't even started. At least I'll be home by noon today and then I'll be going STRAIGHT to the computer to do it. I'll be looking at the live results whenever I can.

(And I'll be trying to get to 4,000 posts before I leave for Boston ;) Which I think it definitely going to happen).

I'm getting jumpy on my seat at work...

:drama:

it's a bittersweet thing to be emotionally invested in some skaters - it's a joy and misery in one

Thank you! (Are these notes from this morning's practices, or did you mean P/C's twizzle flub from yesterday?)

I feel you. Like I feel heart palpitations right before they compete and it feels like your heart skipped a beat for a little too long and you get this feeling of anxiety....
