On Site Reports: Your experience SkAm 2015

I haven't seen any. That's truly unique to Detroit! That, and cars ablaze alongside Woodward Ave.

I've actually seen that on Woodward and on Mack :hijacked:

Ok, I think we need to organize some kind of elevator bingo for Worlds.

Rather than "Bingo" and Number we can have forum member names to match with locations. As people report in we can see who is winning... There has got to be a way to turn this into a game.

Alexander Lakernik was there as the Technical Controller in ladies and Pairs last year.

Alexander Kogan is there this year as the pairs referee. I'm not seeing any repeat tech panel people. Who was it?

I actually don't see any other Russians on the panel other than Kogan but maybe Lakernik showed up and wants to watch.

In searching for Russian officials I did however notice that Ted Barton is the Data Operator for Ladies and Pairs and the Replay Operator for the Men's and Ice Dance!!! Wish I could hear his comments though. Go Ted :yay:

Oh, I forgot! I saw Jean Luc Baker going into an elevator and I only recognized him at first because of his hair... :laugh2:

I saw him earlier too, but it looked like he was talking with his parents (I think?) so I kept right on walking. There was no sign of Kaitlyn. But then I stopped at the Starbucks attached to the Hilton to get some iced coffee, and I swear I saw her sitting in the cafe there... maybe 80% sure, but I didn't want to keep staring and seem like a creep, so I left... :slink:

Thank you all so much for the updates. Keep them coming! Love hearing about the little things you can only see or experience live.

Wow, the distance of So Youn's 2A-3T...

Seeing these practice videos are making me even more excited. Good night everyone and let's get ready for a fun competition tomorrow!

report from my fresh memory:
Han always on deep deep edges, quiet, neat skating, jumping pass textbookly beautiful, air position tight straight like a pencil! 3LZ-3T, fly half rink (seriously)! LP ran through just marked, changed LP ending, looked focus.
Soma dids lots of jumps, landed most of them. condition looks really good this time! In person he did NOT look as small as I assumed.
Jason, LOVE his FS run-though, those acrobatic poses incorporated into this program. Just beeeeautiful! The best I have seen him live. Jumps a little smallers(or lack of attack) compared to other men.
Denis music Tangoish but not quit Tango at the same time (quite unique). felt flat(not as impressive as I saw him at last SA live). Fab skating skills and great stsq as usual though!
Alaine, amazing SP run through (marked the jump), Easily the best choreo and performance of that group (hope she can bring this level of performance with jumps)
Evgenia doing -3t-3t on everything!!! Speed is faster than I thought.
YuliaLip, did first 3 jumping passes no problem, didnot do the rest of her program that much, still flutz(and Evgenia too), seems skating around the rink quite a lot.
Elizabet, really small, tiny in person, seems juniorer than junior. She is sorta shadowed by other "senior" ladies.
Karen fast!! skating big, did 3LZ-3T and a new combo, a sandwich jump of a sort. Liked her 2A, changed back to counter entry. choreo seems changed a little? My first live impression of Karen is lovely, She didnot do her final spin, and marked the spin, but at the same time. change her hands/body position a little to go with music phrasing!:p
Satoko, did SP, which is one of my fav this season, but her live SP left me feel a little flat. Her skating skills is not as prominent/impactful in person than on screen, and unfortunately has the smallest jump of all.
Mariah, landed 3F-3T! program not as impressive as Jason's that is what I gonna say, but tall young lady with ice presence (only smaller than Gracie). nice spins!, also Jason seems changed his spins a little? Jason very impressive spin!
SoYoun, seems has problems with jumps, always has problem with -3T, beautiful Red Violin music, very effective to hear in the rink. lovely skater, She also practiced SP stsq a bit, cute.
Gracie, easily the biggest ice presence of them all. seems always jump close to board! really nice fire bird program. little details throughout the program. love to watch it live.

That's about it on top of my head. if you wanna know my impression about specific skater that I did not mention above or any other questions, just ask me:biggrin:

What about Mura, earlier there was news that he is injured, how was he?

thanks for the reports!!!
any news on Haruka and Julianne&Charlie??

Rode the elevator w/ Shoma and coaches...wow, those things are skater-spotting GOLD! :laugh2:

Many fans like to "camp" the elevators in order to share a ride in them with their favourite skaters, in an "intimate" place they can't escape! I imagine that can get a bit tiring for the skaters... so remember to respect the skaters, and my advice is try not to bother them if they don't look like they're in the mood... (you don't wanna be on the wrong end of a Julia death-stare...! ;-D)

I also run into the same Russian technical specialist that was in SA last year in the lobby.

Hahhaa you ran into Lakernik?

I wonder if he will judge the ladies. If so, Julia and Satoko better watch out! The ! vs e call will be interesting.

yyyway, if it's not too much trouble, did you see Brendan at practice this morning? :)

What about Mura, earlier there was news that he is injured, how was he?

Mura was running outside the rink in the lobby for warm-up, Satoko did it too (I bet lots of fans have running into them). Japanese TV crew shoot Satoko (but from a long distance away from her). As usual, Japanese TV crew will show up when Japanese skaters were on ice. Mura seems healthy to me. Landed many jumps as well(but also all on some).
This little Japanese girl Miyu is kinda cute. She planned to skate her SP and made the opening pose already, then the announcer said the next skater will be skate her FS, please be prepared, then, she perhaps understand the FS word and assumed she was asked to skate FS, so she changed into her FS opening pose quickly, then the music started was still SP, she laughed with embarrassment and quickly run into her FS again:p
Haruku, similar impression as last year SA.
