Jessica fell on both jumping passes.
The Chinese team on a class of their own technically, but they remind me of the Zhangs, and that's so not a good thing.
My favorites were the Estonians..imo, they were underscored.

Huibo DONG / Yiming WU from China are now in the lead. They scored 90.17 in free skate wiping out their previous PB by 17 points. Their total score is 141.33, also a PB.

Just watched their performance, almost clean but the choreography was lacking. Strong technical content,
3t+2t, 2A, th3S, th3T(too footed)...

Zombie time.

Another great performance by I/M. Too bad for the fall on the 2A and the time violation (don't think they'll escape that one...). They should have a nice future ahead of them (preferably a future without white boot covers )

Well maybe there were few mistake, but I liked the competision. I would say it was more intresting than Europeans. For my the only disapoitment was lack of Bazarova&Larionov

The gold- and silver pair will hopefully both compete in senior competitions next season - the girls turn 17 this year, the boys are already 19 or 20. Kawaguchi/Smirnov and Murkhatova/Trankov have to look out! Especially the silver pair (they won the freeskate by the way) are a force to be reckoned with, rather polished, great throws (loop and flip), Triple Twist, their sbs jumps were a bit shaky here - but apart from that - excellent job. And of course the lifts

Me too. I think the quality went down a notch without them. Yes, they lost to both K/B and I/M at Russian Nats, but that's because they completely bombed the LP - they were third after the short.

K/B are imo likely to go Senior after this season but it would probably be smart for I/M to stay Junior. They're fairly new to each other and pairs and a season in Juniors wouldn't hurt them.

Sad that Sheremetieva/Kuznetsov couldn't hang on to third, because I liked them much more than the Chinese team. But 4th is a good result for them and they can come back next year.

Lubov Iliushechkina turned 16 in November and her partner Nodari Maisuradze just turned 20 this month. Technically, they have one more year of junior eligibility.

Ksenia Krasilnikova will turn 17 in June and her partner Konstantin Bezmaternikh turns 20 next month. They, too have one more year of junior eligibility.

I think K/B will move up to the GP, but I'm not sure about I/M. They don't have much competitive experience and she has taken some pretty bad falls during this, their first international. There's a lot of talent there, but they could use more seasoning before moving up to Seniors. They could do a year in the JGP and also do a GP event (Pairs can do both) to put their foot in the water.

There are quite a few competitive Russian Senior pairs: Mukhortova/Trankov, Kawaguchi/Smirnov and Ushakova/Karev. With K/B moving up to the GP, too, there aren't that many Junior teams left who can win medals. It's also possible that Larionov won't get that big a penalty for his drug use, and Bazarova/Larionov are now officially aged out of Juniors, so if they can compete, they'll join a growing group of Seniors.

Yeah... Well, next year they are full of confidence because of these medals and will beat them all. I honestly think that the silver pair has great chances, Kawaguchi/Smirnov may have the Quad - but they aren't really consistent and in my opinion behind the silver pair. Murkhatova/Trankov are just plainly boring - there is nothing special about them, their skating skills are better then the ones of K/S, but there is zero excitement, they seem emotionally detached from their performance. I definitely prefer K/S despite their lack of grace and harmony, at least they are smiling and seem to have a connection to each other and perform with passion. But the silver pair will be better at some point.

The silver medalists have great potential to succeed as senior pair since they have all throw triples, triple twist, triple jumps, great lifts etc.

It's laughable to think the gold medalists and #4 can beat K/S and M/T. The #4 can only manage 2loop+2loop+seq, 2flip, it's not going to cut it at senior level. IMHO, their PCS was hugely inflated at this competition. The gold and silver medalists' PCS was a bit low on a relative scale.

And what about Obertas/Slavnov? Are they retired?
