Looks like the Germans are the new favorites I guess the ISU wanted to put down the Chinese domination of pairs skating. Z/Z and Yao Bin are probably fuming right now especially considering the mistakes the Germans made. Zhang&Zhang most likely have to revive their own quad salchow to keep pace with the superior skating skills of the Germans.

Well, that's appalling. S/S get a huge lead in the FS with THAT performance? This is one of those cases where you can understand why people look at figure skating and shake their heads.

Too bad, looks like D/D will be off the podium. It wouldn't be so disappointing if they hadn't skated so well, comparatively.

OMG, how can S/S be in first and over 200 with that LP?! They were so sloppy, her leg positions were terrible! Plus the fall. Plus the ugly lift exits. I don't understand the judging at all!

I'm happy the Zhangs didn't win, even if it came down to this. However, I'm not happy it had to come down to this. I think what helps with the Germans is that all their elements are high-level and they'll fall after fully rotating things rather than popping.

Lasso lift, he rotates slowly and it looks like it's floating
Lasso lift with difficult variation and crazy dismount
Death spiral, not bad
SPiral into throw 3R nice!
SBS 2A, wobbly but clean
Lasso lift into star varation into carry on one foot, crazy
SBS spin, off on synchro but difficult
SPiral sequence, she is super bendy
SLSS, much improved speed from the past
Pairs spin, pretty nice

Still not a Love Story, but besides the botched sequence that was excellent.

Yeah, this is going to cause a judging controversy I feel. I know ESPN commentators will be confused. I think a lot of people will be upset. I could buy Z/Z winning, but not S/S. And of the teams tonight, clearly D/D were best.

Kudos to K/S with the quad. But otherwise, their performance was ... not memorable whatsoever. Every now and then she overs lovely facial expressions and they can hit some great positions and lines but meh...

119.91 - 4th overall with 191.33. Nevermind...Dube and Davison hang on to the bronze.

They have a bad relationship? Sorry to say that I don't know much about this team. And info would be appreciated.

IIRC during one of the Grand Prix Events it was mentioned that their coach Oleg Vasiliev has a jar that they must pay him if they start arguing during training time because he did not like that they were wasting valuable training time - not to mention his time.

It's a shame because they are an attractive pair on the ice.

Yay, the Canadians get bronze! Good for them. The final judging was so close between those two teams. Came down to about one point.

Holy crap, this is crazy. I don't even think S/S are that happy to win. True competitors don't like winning like that. They look perplexed, like they don't know how to react. It's not satisfying at all.

I'm so over the moon for D/D I couldn't care less about controversy for silver/gold. For me D/D had the best LP of the night and their placement is nothing but fair! I'm absolutely thrilled for them.

At the same time I'm sad for K/S. Kawaguchi has got to be the cutest pair skater ever. When she smiles she is adorable.
