Germans were awesome, loved the exotic music selection and the huge throw. Dube and Davidson looked good as well, but were just a notch below their level really. Great score though. I think they will be battling for medals at majors. I missed the beginning. How did Duhamel and Buntin look? No falls. Were they clean?
Germans are not going to lose this, they seem in top shape.
D/D were better than at SA. And K/S PCS were outrageously low, were obviously held being in the wrong group.
K/S Free is stronger than D/D so we shall see how that works out but I suspect D/D probably will finish second no matter how they skate unless totally bomb.

Pretty good scores for all the top 3 teams, but the Germans an amazingly high score. They could stamp themselves the early favorites for the World title over both Chinese teams if they come up with a similar free skate perforamance. Glad to see Dube/Davison did well, I hope they hang onto 2nd since it doesnt look like the Germans will be caught. Even if they make mistakes it wont be enough with their lead and their higher base mark combined.
Good for Dube/Davison. It sounds like they were improved over Skate America which was not very long ago. S/S have a sizable lead with about seven points, but like in the singles disciplines that's only a couple of mistakes on major elements, so while I think it likely they will win, they will still have to skate for it.
And Kawaguchi/Smirnov are not far out of second place so that will be a good race as well.

Remember though the fact Savchenko/Szokoly scored that much higher with them all skating cleanly means their base score will be much higher then the other 2 pairs to begin with, and in the long program with about double the points on average, likely an even a bigger difference, particularly since they do high difficulty elements in their LP typically. Granted a teams qualities can vary from program to program, but still it seems safe to say they will have a much higher base mark then the Canadians or Russians to begin with, then combined with their lead, so they would need alot of mistakes for 1 of the other 2 pairs to overcome that.
The Germans had almost all 7s in their PCS scores, and D/D didn't have any, despite their clean program. You can expect even higher PCS scores in the FS.
What is hurting K/S is their lack of speed, and that is reflected in the PCS scores, so it's not just skating in the first group.

Well, we shall see the protocls to check that, but they should not be that much lower than D/D.
And all I'm saying is that this early in the season particularly, it's not totally out of the realm of possibility for a team to have a bad skate. Hey, I said it looks like a longshot, I just don't totally close the door on possibility.

Wow, I would not have wanted to be a judge at this event! I thought all the pairs should be proud of their performances this afternoon. 
I'm already looking forward to the pairs event at Canadians after seeing all three Canadian teams. I enjoyed D&D and am happy to see them place second, but I was also really impressed with Duhamel and Buntin...especially their throw 3-lutz!
I also really liked Vise and Trent, and think they have a great future together, but was anyone else kind of holding their breath during their SBS spins? It's kind of scary for me to watch "reverse-direction" pairs do SBS spins after D&D's accident last year.
I'm disappointed there weren't more pairs in this competition and that the spiral sequence is no longer a required element, but I'm looking forward to the LPs.

If the Germans can be consistent this year they will definitely be the new World Champs.

good choice. Most spiral sequences just dragged the program down and looked awkward. With the exception of S&S.
Dube and Davidson can still win this thing. I am so glad that they were able to do another good, clean program. They are really getting consistant. Even with a silver, they will probably make the final.
