I think they should get in the final group. It should be six per group , right? They're ranking 5th after short.

but the pairs (and dance) usually only have 4 couples..I've seen 5 in the europenas, but I think 4 is the normal standard..always have been at least..

Bravo, Rena and John! If they have two great clean skates, I don't care if they place! I think they looked great out there; they're in the history books, no matter what. I hope S and Z have a great FS, as well.

Their score 55 was obviously inflated. They did so poor, must be a set up for the Russian robot.

I just saw their skate and I don't think it was inflated...They certainly didn't do "poor" IMO...

that's why the more favourites the better..and if everything goes completely wrong in figure skating, which I certainly hope not since it's the absolute highlight of the game, there are many other sports left..

I like watching the other stuff but it's not the same as when you have invested your time following a particular athlete. I'm a cheer for the home team kind of gal so if the Americans aren't in the running it takes the fun out. And now with Kwan iffy it's REALLY not fun. I am more a fan of a team or athlete than of the actual sport. I also think people who say it's more about the experience than winning are lying. I want my teams to win!

Anyone know what happened with M&B. I was expecting them to be a little higher than that.

CBC doesn't start coverage of figure skating until 8 and I can't wait that long to find out!

Actually CBC has already aired it. The womens hockey team was hammering Italy (they won 16-0) so they broke away to show it. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to wait until after the Leaf game, and I got my wish. Marcoux and Buntin skated ok, but not their best. They weren't happy when they finished, but they weren't devastated either. It certainly wasn't as good as their Nationals effort. On their SBS triple toe's she put a hand down, and he really struggled with his landing. They were also quite far apart. On their throw triple loop she was leaning backwards quite a bit in the air but managed to make a scratchy landing. Overall the program just didn't have the usual spark, but I think they will rebound for a top ten finish.

I was really happy for Dube and Davison. They clearly aren't as polished or as technical as other teams IMO, but they skated their personal best SP and looked quite pleased. This will be great experience for 2010.

Pairs are never more than four to a group (that I've seen). Dance however, is typically five couples. I guess they feel the extra bodies are safe in dance, since they don't practice throws or jumps.

What a bummer for S&Z and S&S! Z&Z and Pet&Ti seem to be in a virtual tie though. An truly amazing for I&B!!!

On CBC they showed the top three, S/Z, the two Canadians and the Germans. From what I saw Z/Z and Pet/Tik were definitely my favs (that is huge coming from me as I am not a fan of either team - find them both lacking in artistry normally, but today they were on fire.) Found T/M to be slightly overmarked. They were good, and I don't really even dispute their first place standing, but I didn't think they had four points on this field on this day.
Loved Dube and Davison. This team is electric - they just have a certain "look at me" quality. I'm hoping they crack the top 10 - they are in a position to do it with a FS like the one they had at Canadians. This team represents a really bright future in Canadian pairs.

I don't think so. Come to think of it none of the top pairs really blow me away with their artistry other than S&Z, and that has taken some time .

I thought S&Z were too slow and little rocky on some of their elements.
