GO CHINA!!!!!!!!

It's sad that Pang and Tong haven't gotten up there yet. There have been alot of nasty comments posting around the internet about Qing Pang's weight  I think they are one of the elegant skaters in the world and can hit a program out of the park if they skate clean.

Sailor...

Boy it took Icecalc plenty of time to get the P&T (RUS) scores up, yes??? A close race and tomorrow should be very exciting.

While I have made my own fair share of "tongue in cheek" comments about Pang's weight (i.e. PLEASE come stay with me for awhile so I can FEED you) I do not think that the majority of these or other comments on discussion boards are meant in a negative way. As a former anorexic youth athlete myself, there are some very frightening physical signs I see in her that concern me, and obviously I'm not the first or only one. I truly hope she is OK.

I love their skating, and wish only the best for both of them in life, health, and everything - not just skating. To me anyway, they seem to lack a bit in energy this year that I seem to recall from last year. I think others are *thinking* they notice the same thing. Seeing how very thin she is, I can't help but wonder if she is deteriorating muscle, strength and stamina behind the scenes, without even realizing it. (that's how anorexia goes)

Hey, how about Orscher and Lucash. They're movin on up.

Who really care's about Pang's weight. With her partner they are a stunning Pair.

And who is this other Russian team in 4th place?

I've always thought Pang looked very very thin (my personal opinion, she could use a few pounds), but I don't really think she has any disorder. For what I've seen, many chinese women are very thin by nature (not only Pang, but Zhang and Din are very thin as well) and since she is kind of tall for I think it shows more. I know that at their training center (for what I've heard on interviews and such) they keep track of their weights, but they have phisicians to look over them, and I don't think they would encourage something to attempt on her health.

I'm really looking forward to see this particular competition, It's gonna be good!

Yes, they seemed to do a lot better than they did at Skate America. Although, I'd actually be kind of worried if they did not beat the teams below them. ;)

Most of the people (myself included) who comment on Pang's weight are not doing it be vicious. I usually never comment about a skater's weight. I didn't comment last year when there were all of the rumors about Tanith Belbin and how thin she was, but in my opinion Pang is way too skinny. Now, do I know if she has an eating disorder or not-of course not. That doesn't mean that I am not concerned over her health. And since extremely low weight can be linked to poor health; I do think that Pang's weight is important.

Victoria & Andrei; are Moskvina's "other" team. They are in St. Petersburg working with Moskvin/Moskvina and Oksana Kazakova. I haven't seen any of their programs last year; but I thought they had an elegant style last year. He's very tall-probably the tallest pairs skater out there.

Great for both Russian teams. Pleasantly surprised with Pe & Ti - then again, they did pretty well with CoP last year as well. Usually they're in close contention with Pa & To, and now they are closer to S&Z. Wow!

Hi, what happen to Langlois and Arquetto, did they skated well, they had deductions so they must of fell on something, I know that it was said that they both had the flue and also that that Annabele and Patrice are doing the throw loop which is a jump they would never do, so they are trying it to have more score points in the new COP for technique. So this jump is a little bit incunsistant when it comes to Annabelle, also they can climb up 3 or places if they skate a clean long program, this is their force, they are so wonderful and we get into their long programs all the time.

P&T

Methinks that because Tong is not the biggest skater out there, that Pang is under a lot of pressure to keep her weight down... how old is she? Isn't this the time in a ladies life where her body feels obligated to put on womanly curves?

Too bad the Chinese Federation didn't consider switching the partners. Zhang is a much bigger guy and his partner is quite a bit smalller.

At any rate, the judges need to start hitting them in the PCS scores. I don't want to be mean, but a message needs to be sent that appearing in this type of physical shape is not acceptable. There's enough risk in Pairs skating as it is, without starving, too.

Isn't that the Russian system of pairing an over 6' guy with a less than 5'1" gal?

When you have a bad flu and try to skate, the littlests of things can go wrong and your balance is way off. If this bad flu hit them fast and hard, they had no time to adjust for competition. I had the flu once on a test day for my interpretive program last year and I couldn't stand up off of the ice or on the ice without feeling like I was going to fall over. I tried anyway but my skating was like a chalk board with my toe picks and all my spins and jumps were a mess. It's sad to see that they had to retire from the event but when you're sick, you're sick. No one wants to crash on their head when they can't balance worth beans while sick.
