On the whole I am glad to hear this. I will continue to pray for the safety of all people in France, including those in Bordeaux.

The Chaos in the Middle East are largely created by powerful global politicians and players, nothing to do with us ordinary people, but we experience the "blowback". These countries and their peoples are but pawns in the great game of geopolitics. ISIS, Al Qaeda, they were all sponsored and supported as pawns to fulfill some of these political agenda, but of course they grew into their fully formed monstrous selves as they go from strength to strength and accumulated all the weapons and resources thrown at them.

We're told there are all these evil dictators in the world who must go but in fact, there is a strained peace and some semblance of normalcy in the everyday lives of the people living under these "dictators", people raise families, they work, they go to schools and universities, they worship, they live together with those of other faiths, etc. People who are securely anchored in their ordinary lives do not join terror organizations nor do they "hate our freedom".

The "dictators" are toppled, chaos and civil wars are unleashed, these vast countries become failed states, millions died and fled the brutality and violence unleashed, stateless lawless groups like ISIS fill the power vacuum and try to slaughter their way into legitimacy and power. The lives of these ordinary people are upended, they seek refuge for their families in safe havens such as our shores.

These failed countries need to be restored to viable states again in order to eliminate the threat from warlords and lawless actors, however, how do we get our politicians to do the right thing in our interest? Untouched by any of this, they follow their own agenda.

As someone born and raised in an Islamic country, I'm really disappointed in the way some people view Islam. I'm not even Muslim and I feel offended for all my friends who are. It really is a beautiful religion, and terrorist groups like ISIS and al-Qaeda do not represent it at all.

And anyone who generalize and think poorly of refugees needs a heavy dose of Humans of New York, where the photographer interviewed many refugees with heartbreaking stories to tell.

excuse me, but are you trying to tell us that people in the Middle East do not have their own aims? That they can not play their own game? That everything have to be fault of "powerful global politicians"? Have you forgotten that half of the major buildings in London are owned by.... yes, by Arabs. Are you telling me that people in the Middle East are like small children who can not even create their own terrorists groups but these groups must have other sponsors? That they are just a pawns in other people games? It seems to me strange that you think that Muslims can only be like a children who can not do anything themselves.
Civil wars were always, have you forgotten European wars, civil wars, millions of people killed.

As for the refugees-- why do young males come to Europe leaving their wives and children in the very dangerous countries, in the countries when their families can be killed, and come to Europe themselves instead of fighting for their families or taking families with them?

I couldn't agree more. A figure skating forum is the last place I thought to encounter xenophobia and Islamophobia, and it saddens me because figure skating is my happy place.
At the same time, I take solace in the solidarity, warmth and concern shown by others here as well, for people who are displaced, hurt and injured - and that lifts my spirit somewhat.

For whatever it's worth, my support is for the skaters in TEB - I hope they'll do their very best and show that the human spirit can't be broken by those who are determined to divide us!

I don't know about Europe, but there's plenty in the US, although they aren't usually organized into groups. Right-wing Christian fanatics fueled by evangelical Christian fundamentalism account for more deaths in the US since Sept 2001 than Muslim terrorists do.
