I don't think the one lawsuit against NBC and Knierim and Frazier would be the reason they took ALL of the figure skating down?
I'm not so sure about that. It looks like they've taken the entire season down!
I went to Sports category, and I did a search for Figure Skating. All that showed up were the NBC Primetime Olympic events, with some figure skating included in various broadcasts. Normally, we would be able to find a whole hub of figure skating events that included everything from the season, which was a lot! All of the U.S. figure skating events (challenge events that led up to U.S. Nationals; plus all the U.S. Nationals events), along with all of the fall GP events; plus 2021 Worlds, etc. are missing! I can't find any of these events any longer!!! Did NBC not vet and request licenses for music coverage???
One of the huge problems has always been trying to effectively navigate this headache-inducing site!!!! They need to give us advance notice of what the heck is going on. I am entirely sick of this nonsense. This was the most disconnected, disparate, and confusing Olympics I have ever watched in my life. This time around, I mainly wanted to see figure skating. And that was hard enough, and exhausting enough to try and keep up with. But then we don't get commentary, except in drips and drabs, or if you want to sit through all the other events (which I don't) in order to find coverage by NBC commentators. Meanwhile, other countries are getting to view things with decent commentary, AFAIK.
Or, I guess USA had commentary, if you can get USA network. The Peacock site throughout the whole Olympics was as confusing as all get out! What the ever-loving heck! Where were all the press conferences? Where was backstage coverage? Please give me back a dedicated site (but with up-to-date technology) for FIGURE SKATING, PLEASE!!!!
And don't let me get started on the crazy colored, non-informative scoring boxes. It was so hard to read the overdone scoring box in the kiss 'n cry -- likely because that's the type of model used in China???? And then, all of the odd breaks into figure skating coverage during replays where they chack stuff for 50 million commercials. Not worth it!!!! It's easier to view the few program videos posted on YouTube by NBC. But again, that's disparate and disjointed viewing.
NBC decided to chack even showing Vanessa & Eric during the fp team event. This, after they made sure to offer clips everywhere of Vanessa receiving the brunt of an unfortunate collision during a training practice. Yep, let's show the black woman with a face contorted in pain, but let's NOT show her team athletic performance with her partner. Just like old times watching figure skating on tv back-in-the-day, when the final results showed, we see their names: 'James/Radford' in the standings, while the commentators don't mention them at all because they weren't shown on the broadcast.

They could have at least said, 'We weren't able to show them due to time constraints, but James/Radford of Canada came in....' whatever position it was. NBC/Peacock probably saw complaints about not showing J/R in primetime coverage, so they inexplicably posted a video of their team free skate performance on the Peacock site.

Nope NBC, that doesn't excuse chacking them on the primetime show.
FFS, I'm so tired of the lame, disparate, disconnected coverage of figure skating. Coming to skating forums here and there, while helpful to learn some news, is not fully satisfying either. It's so easy to miss a full understanding of what's happening in the skating world. I do not frequent skating Twitter, and I hardly ever go to Facebook. I do randomly view skating-related Instagram sites and YouTube channels/ videos. And I occasionally enjoy some of the skating-related podcasts out there. But again, it's all disconnected, random coverage.
TSL is not the best platform for a full understanding either, because it's so centered on Dave's and Jonathan's often oft-putting personalities, and the limited, personalized, too often snarky way they view the sport. They do have an archive of skating coverage that they share on YouTube, including current & past interviews; old skating events; commentary; etc. But again, all very disparate. Meanwhile, they are persnickety about covering mainly the disciplines and skaters they are exclusively interested in. There is NOT a broader, fair-minded, less insulated and gossipy view of skating available anywhere with straightforward and more comprehensive news, commentary, and at least highlights or full coverage of skating press conferences.
I thought the Olympic Ice coverage was fairly decent, but it was mainly set up for entertaining coverage of skating highlights, humorous skits, brief interviews with medalists, and some well done breakdowns of skating moves (on the ice) with Ashley W, and Brian B demonstrating. Otherwise, it was standard, status quo fare.
