Peacock admits mistakes....

Try Proton VPN - tons of servers, and it’s based in Switzerland, so privacy great.

They do have a free version that only has 3 countries, but the paid version has a lot more.

It’s a worthwhile investment especially because the ISU YouTube channel keeps all their replays up.

Whatever you do - DO NOT use a totally free VPN, because most will leak your data.
Thanks for the tips! Appreciated!

I have tried reaching otu to them multiple times and they keep ignoring my contacts (they used to be good about texting me back). If this wasn't free for me with Comcast I'd cancel my subscription. I wonder if they'll have worlds like we're promised.
I'm pretty sure they will show Worlds, they will just yank it after it's done like they did the Olympics, sadly...I wonder if they only have a certain amount of storage given the wide variety of stuff you can watch on Peacock? I don't have any clue about how any of that works though...

I don't think the one lawsuit against NBC and Knierim and Frazier would be the reason they took ALL of the figure skating down?
I'm not so sure about that. It looks like they've taken the entire season down!

I went to Sports category, and I did a search for Figure Skating. All that showed up were the NBC Primetime Olympic events, with some figure skating included in various broadcasts. Normally, we would be able to find a whole hub of figure skating events that included everything from the season, which was a lot! All of the U.S. figure skating events (challenge events that led up to U.S. Nationals; plus all the U.S. Nationals events), along with all of the fall GP events; plus 2021 Worlds, etc. are missing! I can't find any of these events any longer!!! Did NBC not vet and request licenses for music coverage???

One of the huge problems has always been trying to effectively navigate this headache-inducing site!!!! They need to give us advance notice of what the heck is going on. I am entirely sick of this nonsense. This was the most disconnected, disparate, and confusing Olympics I have ever watched in my life. This time around, I mainly wanted to see figure skating. And that was hard enough, and exhausting enough to try and keep up with. But then we don't get commentary, except in drips and drabs, or if you want to sit through all the other events (which I don't) in order to find coverage by NBC commentators. Meanwhile, other countries are getting to view things with decent commentary, AFAIK.

Or, I guess USA had commentary, if you can get USA network. The Peacock site throughout the whole Olympics was as confusing as all get out! What the ever-loving heck! Where were all the press conferences? Where was backstage coverage? Please give me back a dedicated site (but with up-to-date technology) for FIGURE SKATING, PLEASE!!!!

And don't let me get started on the crazy colored, non-informative scoring boxes. It was so hard to read the overdone scoring box in the kiss 'n cry -- likely because that's the type of model used in China???? And then, all of the odd breaks into figure skating coverage during replays where they chack stuff for 50 million commercials. Not worth it!!!! It's easier to view the few program videos posted on YouTube by NBC. But again, that's disparate and disjointed viewing.

NBC decided to chack even showing Vanessa & Eric during the fp team event. This, after they made sure to offer clips everywhere of Vanessa receiving the brunt of an unfortunate collision during a training practice. Yep, let's show the black woman with a face contorted in pain, but let's NOT show her team athletic performance with her partner. Just like old times watching figure skating on tv back-in-the-day, when the final results showed, we see their names: 'James/Radford' in the standings, while the commentators don't mention them at all because they weren't shown on the broadcast. :palmf: They could have at least said, 'We weren't able to show them due to time constraints, but James/Radford of Canada came in....' whatever position it was. NBC/Peacock probably saw complaints about not showing J/R in primetime coverage, so they inexplicably posted a video of their team free skate performance on the Peacock site. Nope NBC, that doesn't excuse chacking them on the primetime show.

FFS, I'm so tired of the lame, disparate, disconnected coverage of figure skating. Coming to skating forums here and there, while helpful to learn some news, is not fully satisfying either. It's so easy to miss a full understanding of what's happening in the skating world. I do not frequent skating Twitter, and I hardly ever go to Facebook. I do randomly view skating-related Instagram sites and YouTube channels/ videos. And I occasionally enjoy some of the skating-related podcasts out there. But again, it's all disconnected, random coverage.

TSL is not the best platform for a full understanding either, because it's so centered on Dave's and Jonathan's often oft-putting personalities, and the limited, personalized, too often snarky way they view the sport. They do have an archive of skating coverage that they share on YouTube, including current & past interviews; old skating events; commentary; etc. But again, all very disparate. Meanwhile, they are persnickety about covering mainly the disciplines and skaters they are exclusively interested in. There is NOT a broader, fair-minded, less insulated and gossipy view of skating available anywhere with straightforward and more comprehensive news, commentary, and at least highlights or full coverage of skating press conferences.

I thought the Olympic Ice coverage was fairly decent, but it was mainly set up for entertaining coverage of skating highlights, humorous skits, brief interviews with medalists, and some well done breakdowns of skating moves (on the ice) with Ashley W, and Brian B demonstrating. Otherwise, it was standard, status quo fare.

It is interesting to note that Dave has posted an informative follow-up to what's been happening in Russia post Olympics re the skaters receiving various honors directly from Putin. Dave has done some research and pointed out some glaring details that I wasn't aware of, including the fact that Russian skaters are generally given a heads-up about when they will be tested, so that they can be sure to show up clean. Also, Dave points out that the U.S. and Canada pay more into the WADA pot for testing funding than Russia has ever been required to pay!!!

Great post Blissful Synergy! I gave Peacock feedback asking them to release their Figure Skating hub hostage and give us all Ice Network back with improved tech hopefully! I don't think NBC will listen though. Also, I cannot believe they would not maintain music licensing fees given they are the bad behind things being yanked off of You Tube due to copyright. That doesn't make any sense. But then Peacock and NBC really don't make any sense these days. I downgraded to just free Peacock last night to keep tabs on them. All I can say is things changed drastically since Rio and Tokyo NBC streaming days and I'm sure it's really all about money given viewership has gone downhill. But removing Figure Skating will just cause another dent in their ploy to make any profits or keep customers who love figure skating.

My guess is the taking down of all figure skating is in relation to this lawsuit. I mean every skating event on TV we get hammered with the commercials to sign up for Peacock to watch all the events, etc. and now there are no events to watch! Maybe they are just being careful - I'm hoping this is just temporary and maybe they will restore the replay but either have new captions crediting the music or new disclaimers or something and hopefully they are just consulting their legal team to make sure they aren't sued again. But there were quite a few programs I was going to go watch that I didn't get a chance to during the Olympics, not mention that there were some Nationals segments I was going to watch later too - like some of the junior events I missed. I'm paid up through April and was going to cancel then anyway since the season would be over then. Just hope it gets sorted out as I was really enjoying the skating on Peacock so far and didn't have a ton of complaints until now. I see that this week is US Synchro Championships and Peacock is supposed to cover it... we shall see.

I agree with your comments about U. S. Synchro Championships - if we don't see that on Peacock I think the fans are just going to be very unhappy. I just checked the Peacock website and there are no competition replays for figure skating and nothing upcoming either. The only Olympic skating on Peacock now is what is on the Primetime NBC broadcast. All of the international and national competitions replays for the last couple of years are still missing.

I had put a few figure skating events in My Stuff but the only ones in there now are NBC Primetime shows. All of the full events which I had in My Stuff are gone.

Does Peacock even have a customer service phone number or do they hide behind email only?

I'm not sure. I've never found a phone number or email address. On FB there is a Peacock TV site which I used to contact them. I think they are on twitter but I don't use twitter.

So after 12 days I finally got a real person on chat. They said there is no skating due to streaming rights, and "Unfortunately, Figure skating is not currently available on Peacock. We are always looking to expand our content offerings and hope to continue carrying titles like this one on our platform moving forward. Please continue to check back for updates." I then asked about synchro in 2 days and worlds and they ignored it. I have reached out to USFS since they're saying synchro is only available on Peacock. Xfinity has put in a complaint on my behalf as well (they pay for my Peacock and I threatened to cancel my cable subscription).

"The lawsuit also names Comcast Corporation; NBCUniversal Media, LLC; Peacock; USA Network and U.S. Figure Skating in the lawsuit, alongside Frazier, 29, and Knierim, 30."

Now it all makes sense. The lawsuit isn't confined to two skaters and NBC. No wonder they pulled it all down. Something tells me they're also worried about more lawsuits being filed by other musicians after reading about this story and all the evidence would be hanging out in the open for all to peruse - including their lawyers.

For those of you still needing to see OG events...here is an alternative site I posted in the gala thread

Many skaters performances and competition for all events may be found here....

Nothing about this makes sense. They can show the Olympics on demand, but not other ISU or USFSA sanctioned events that use the same music? Has NBC/Peacock pulled all other sports such as gymnastics which use possibly unlicensed music as well? If K&F are the only problem. why don't they just edit their programs out and leave the rest for us to stream? It is not as if K&F competed in every event and in every discipline that the entire sport should be wiped out online by this!

Has anyone reached out to the media experts in figure skating such as Christine Brennan, Phil Hersh, Jackie Wong, etc.? They would most likely be able to find out what is truly going on and, more importantly, suggest or find a solution or other alternatives that will restore figure skating coverage online. Has anyone reached out to the ISU and USFSA? It certainly cannot benefit them to lose coverage and therefore interest and $$$ if the United States is unable to access or view any of their competitions. Worlds are in a few weeks - I cannot imagine that they may not be airing on TV and/or online in the US. Despite the decline in interest in figure skating over the last several years, it has not become so niche that it should be this difficult to find coverage anywhere in the US. It is an international sport in which the US participates and deserves to have full coverage in this country.

I understand that musicians want to make money off of their work. Having said that, it’s unfair to tell skaters that they can’t use their music. Now look at this mess. We can’t see the events anymore. Golly. Sometimes people need to think what their actions can do. Greedy greedy.

Made my (now daily) trip to the Peacock website and under "Live and Upcoming" are the upcoming synchro competitions for the U. S. Synchro Championships starting March 3. I'm hoping this is a good omen and the skating will be streamed and also on demand.

The figure skating boot is still missing and the only stuff available with a search for figure skating is the NBC Primetime coverage from the Olympics.

This all sounds like the brave new world of technolgy is going to make lawyers rich. I hope someone does a good article are what acuactally has now happened. Streaming has been around for some time.
In the past, it was my belief that NBC or ? paid money for the broadcast rights. The governing body of the event paid a royalty to the music company who controled the music...every one is happy.
Now, suddenly there are issues???

Makes one wonder is a Nats event isnt covered by whatever this law the lawyers dreamed up to make money for themselves and their clients?
And even if Worlds Happens, which is doubtful, can we see it streamed or just watch J and T show?
