Despite being a Filipino, I would understand Sasha's situation if I was in his shoes and the results that they have is nothing to be proud about if structured training environment hasn't been in placed especially a hurricane has arrived and screw all over the place which it was hard to get the momentum back after the interruption.

Their case especially with Bella really need specialists aside from setting a middle ground.

Now that the federation knows the valid concerns of Alexander, do you know if the Federation made changes or different arrangement for these two?

I don't have connections with the PHSU even if I wanted to, I'm just a concern outsider. I remember I've met Nikki Cheng (The current president) a few times (that was before Nationals in December and the Carols on Ice in 2022). Despite of being a former figure skater herself, she also has to handle speed skating and hockey not to mention that she didn't have the initiative willpower like the president of Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (I'm quite dishearten about Carlos Yulo's coach change when he is at his peak)

I remember that Bella's father is a surgeon as her father side came from a family of doctors in which she gets to afford the training in the US.

If only that I have the money, I'll would send them to Russia which not only Sasha get to have the proper training environment but also that Bella will have the needed access to specialists as she needed the most.

I've arrived home from Philippine Nationals yesterday and we don't mind of inviting other skaters from 4 different nations since the number are pretty small and it was free of charge.

I get to talk with Lexie Hernandez last night which I found out that she worked with Frank Carrol in the past meaning that she learn from him with regards of coaching and I also mention to her with my love for Denis Ten which she said that he is a beautiful skater and it was sweet of me to say about him (he stole my heart).

I even saw Betrand in person and oh boy that at age 17 that he is on the same height as Sasha Korovin without skates not to mention that he is still growing as well.

I get to watch Brandon's performance and he made considerable improvement from his 1st JGP of his junior season in Osaka. I get to have an enjoyable conversation with him after his SP as I gave him a bag of Mangorind sweets as a present since my salary will arrive next week. I found out that he has ice training 3 hours a day (15 hrs a week), added that he also does ballet, dance lessons and yoga which he does this whenever he can. (I get the feeling that he also works as well for in order to fund his training which I didn't get to ask him about it since living and training at Irvine CA is costly)

Regarding with his coach Raf, he said that he's been with Team Raf ever since he started his skating career which Brandon is grateful and fiercely loyal to him to the point that you can't make him change coaches which I guess that his performance at Osaka is something to do with the first time nerves which is understandable. I also learned that he is besties with Artur Smagulov and Ilia Malinin which Brandon said the former is reserved but nice while the later tends to open up to him when private which is different what we saw in media. Those three boys are pretty fortunate to have each other as friends.

What Brandon and I have in common is our love for Denis Ten which he mentioned that he admire him and he is kinda flustered when he tried to find that sense of calm like Denis has and getting his own skating style which I reassured him the he is going to get one sooner since he has star quality in his charisma (similar to Martinez) and the determination to do so like his friend Ilia. With the information that I've gather with along with the needed funds from other donors for further training that I personally believe that Baldoz will make it to the Olympics.

Edrian is on the entry list for the Warsaw Cup Challenger, with the men's event starting on the 16th, so it was probably decided he'll skip Nationals this season to prepare better for Warsaw Cup.
Edrian is no longer on the entry list for Warsaw :(

Two Fil-Am boys competing at the US Nationals:
  • Lorenzo Elano = will compete in Junior Men
  • Jon Maravilla = will compete in two disciplines: Junior Men and Junior Pairs

It would be interesting to see if these men will change feds from the US to the Philippines. Elano does not have Phil citizenship yet but that is easily rectified, and Maravilla has dual citizenship (US and Phil citizenship) but has never been to the Philippines.

Elano visited the Philippines last year and met with Ms. Nikki and Coach Abraham of the PSU. Depending on the availability of funds, and whether he gets named to Team USA (he is in the USFS International Selection Pool but not yet Team USA), Elano is most likely to switch to the Phil federation.

Maravilla competed in John Nicks for pairs in New York, and Isabella Gamez (Phil. pairs) met him and was convincing him to join the Philippine Fed instead. Maravilla has junior pairs in the US, so most likely not to shift to the Philippine team, though he can do singles as well.

Ok.. .So Edrian didn't qualify for home worlds. I was sad. I also didn't see him there... he may have been or not.. but I didn't see him.

However, there was some Filipino flare at every single medal ceremony.
Earl Jesse Celestino was the young boy handing out the medals to the officials for the victory ceremony.

Of course, we have no idea if Earl will end up representing the Philippines one day. So far, he is following big bro's route skating junior as a Canadian. As I am a greedy Canadian, I'd like him to stick to Canada ;) but considering it's ice dance, and well, you know how it is, it may happen for the Philippines in a few years.... and this would mean that Earl has podium experience ;)

If Earl decide to change feds from Canada to the Philippines, there are certain steps that he and his partner need to take:

- Either 2024-2025 or 2025-2026 as their last season to represent Canada which Auréa have to undergo the application process for foreigners to obtain a Filipino citizenship which takes 2 years while she have to present herself to the Philippine Senate.

- Cost of living expenses and training expenses: they need to decide carefully which place they are going to as their training base since the only support that the PHSU have is only 1/2 of the reimbursement of their expenses during competition for all of their skaters as worse case scenario (figure skaters, short track skaters and a small hockey team from the sales of 3 Ice rinks in the Philippines) I would encourage them to take modeling as their jobs especially as a means to make their presence known in the Philippines during off season (or coding jobs if they don't do modeling or they can do both)
