Plushenko Next Year

What exactly is the description of manly skating?

I think fist shaking must be extremely manly! And if pluschenko is being used as an exampe then uncontrolled spasmodic arm movements, lots of head banging and hair flapping too

..... don't forget other manly moves like the head rolling and snapping to the side.

Hmmm.... good question... for me its like the definition of porn, you know it when you see it... but if pressed to put it into words, I'd say more athlete and less pretty. Joubert has a more athletic style - if he wasn't a skater, he could be compete in soccer, tennis, etc. vs. say Weir (who I simply love...) has a more dancer quality to his skating.

And its not to say that dancer type skaters are girly, its just different and its just my preference.

Yes, Ant darling but Plushy has attitude and that oh so sexy Russian thing that makes up for the rest... ;)

Depends on what you want to see.
What about: speed, power, attack , confidence and ...a wicked smile?:)

OK the attitude i get but sexy  i really don't get sexy from pluschenko - it could just be the hair but i just don't see it! :)

Maybe it should become part of the CoP in the PCS scores: How many points for being Manly and what could the level be and the Goes? Nothing else would matter, would it?

Kwanfod Wife, your post makes a lot of sense... except maybe it doesn't.. Thing is sports isn't just masculine nor is dance just feminine.... There are quite a few male dancers out there... in fact, they are a mainstay of dance groups... Likewise, there are ladies who play sports like basketball for example (Remember the scandal about the nappy-headed hoes?)

Now say you were to run into a dance guy and a basketball girl at a party.. Would ask the guy.. "Mr, since you dance and perform all those graceful balletic moves, are you either a woman or a homosexual?" Likewise, would you ask the girl that plays basketball. "Ms, since you play basketball, are you a butch lesbian or a man?"

Alrighty, then... getting back to the topic of Evgeny coming back.

I went to COI today and I personally thought Plushenko was in a really good shape. He performed two effortless triple axels, numerous solid triples, while still being as lyrical as he is, as if he is the music. Beautiful, beautiful skating. I was very impressed by how much emotion he shows in his programs, along with brilliantly nailed jumps. He is breathtaking.

It's great to hear that. Can't wait till next season to see him. He is the kind of person that you can count on for winning.

Thanks so much for the report! I'm glad he did fine (this was Providence right?). It seems last weekend he didn't do so well, but I insist that it's insane that he is flyng back and forth to Russia every Sunday! That must be so exhausting, especially because he goes back to keep with his tour in Russia.

He is landing triple axels again, so great to hear.

Happy to hear it! Can't wait next season with Plushenko!

I can second what doubleaxel wrote - I also saw him in NJ yesterday. I was fully expecting the arm flapping and general slowness due to health problems that others have posted about, but instead I saw the OGM announcing that he's back. I have not been much of a Plushenko fan, but to see him live with those easy triples, one after another, and the gorgeous spins... not to mention that beautiful hair of his, lol - well, I am not strong enough to resist.

Sounds like you might have to add him to your signature;)
