10 Greatest Male Figure Skaters of All Time

5. Evgeni Plushenko (Russia)
His competitive record of being a five-time European champion (2000-01, 2003, 2005-06), three-time World champion (2001, 2003-04) and the 2006 Olympic gold medallist certainly makes him one of the greatest skaters that Russia ever produced. He is much recognized for his exceptional technical abilities, being one of the very few male skaters to execute the Biellman spin. He was also consistently landing numerous quadruple, quadruple-triple and quadruple-triple-double jump combinations successfully in major competitions.
There are not to many wrong :p - they just forgot to 4-3-3 combo .... and proclaimed Yagudin's as 5-fold world champion  ... Nevertheless, Plushy is ahead Yags

Don't try and start trouble plushyta

I posted a list that for once seniorita might enjoy.

And the list has Shannon Miller who I recall left Khorkina in tears back in '96 ;)

Khorkina was pretty much good in her first Olys, just fell in all around , but the Russian team didnt lose because of her. She is one of all time greats even as I said the other Svetlana is my fav.

You're not talking thus, when she was last year "choke" Plushy's :p:rofl:

Any news about Plushenko, is he better?

The flu got me now. Like really badly, can barely breathe...

How you got the flu?You kissed Plushy?(a la princess and frog?)
I m in a mess, but for totally different reasons:(
you got my msgs?
Great banner, what brushes you used?
To get on topic, no news of Plush but I ve lost contact a bit, maybe Plushyta knows.

Medusa, I just love your banners. I like the zebra one too.

I like the zebra one too.
I am really mad with Switzerland right now, and couldn't stand anything with a Swiss flag for the time being. I will probably get over it at some point.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

What swiss did to you?
Cant stand even swiss chocolates?
Here. What a bigoted, small-minded, idiotic and horrific decision.

What's next? No Buddhist shrines? No more newspapers and books in Arabic etc. on sale? Will watching Al Jazeera be punishable in the future?

I always regretted it a bit that Switzerland isn't in the European Union, but not anymore. Now I am glad that we have basically nothing to do with them.

Well, back in 2003, many of the guys I worked with were upset with me because I was against the impending invasion of Iraq. I am one of the few people I know who was against the war before it started.

By the way, the Caroline Zhang thread is still beating you guys in total views. Let's get moving. :)

should i say everybody i knew was against the war before the beginning? We are a nation fed up with wars anyway..

Was there a competition? :p oh well, what we can do, Plushy cannot get too bendy, can he?

Jenny, no news from plush camp.

Oh my:cool:, you should read this!

I didnt know where to put it so I chose here.
For Ex yagudin fan, she has missed Plushenko a lot, nostalgia of 6.0 and the quad era, and I dont know what to think of this blogpost, but I cracked up!Not very scientific approach to the new system, anyway it was the first morning article about skating. Credits to plushyta:laugh:

Now, if you don't give two flying craps about skating, you may just want to stop reading now. But if you love skating, or used to watch skating, but stopped watching around...oh 2002?
After 2006, he retired and hit the ice show road, like any good natured Olympian. But now it's 2009 going on 2010, skating has gone through the toilet, so now it's time for Plushenko's return.
Noboru Oda of Japan has turned a few heads, but not mine. I'm unimpressed with his Charlie Chaplin routine, mostly because I did a better Charlie Chaplin as a 15 year old Intermediate Synchronized Skater. Turn up the Chaplin, Oda. Johnny Weir is just a skater I like to have around for entertainment, after all these years he has failed to show a consistent quad, and I just don't see it happening in the near future. But you gotta love a queen who owns it.
On another note, we had sort of inside ellections in greece yesterday and between the stuff i read i found an exciting article about Plushy(probably the only one with his name in Greek), I had told you Greeks love Plushy:biggrin: For anyone who wants to practice his greek, The Return of Nureyev

More related to Plushy, Zenit passed to the next round of Champions League, it is Plushy's fav team:rock:

http://mignews.com.ua/ru/articles/970.html This is quite a long interview, in general, it says:

- As usual, Plushenko takes a lot of the interview complaining about the lack of support of the people who told him to come back and they will provide him for what he needs, he says he has done his part but the other side has not, so right now he is not making almost any profit, he is living out of savings and that his financial support comes from Oriflame. He says that the fed is, in theory, paying now for his doctor and his choreographer but the amounts the fed pays them is not enough considering the amount of time both spend with him.
- He says that he should have done the Russian Cup (In Moscow this past week) but got sick with the flu but that he will perform at the Panin competition. (starts tomorrow), he says that because of him getting sick, he tries now not to be in public places, he takes vitamins and he tells himself that he cannot get sick. He says that from now on, he will wear a surgical mask when he goes out.
- (talking about the new system) He says that most of the athletes aiming at the Olympic podium have skated with the old system, so all of them had to re-learn how to skate adjusting to the new system. He is not sure if it's for him easier or harder than the rest, on one hand he believes it's harder for him because he is been away for three years, but on the other hand maybe it's easier because he had time to rest, to get away from the pressure, to enjoy a new life, he thinks it's like a double-edge sword.
- He says he gets the most points with his jumps so he has to do them on training, he talks about his 3ax-4t. About the spins, while he knows there is a level 4, he wants to do a good quality level 3 spin.
- He says that it would be insane of him just to lay back and not work anymore after realizing how easily he won RC. He didn't do everything that was planned so there's no stop for him. He knows that the sports career is quite short, he remember his mother used to tell him that as soon as he retired, he won't be needed anymore, and if you fail they will walk away and he has seen it happen to a lot of Russian athletes.
- Finally he says that his mom has started to go watch his trainings again, which is something she did since he started skating until 2006. His wife, mom, doctor and choreographer watch his trainings now.
